when I had to get mine a new laptop for college
I got myself one also both of them were about $40/month on dell credit
and I write them off as business expense
you know the pathetic week is why there was enough hours to get the miles this week
day 65 without a reset hard to hit 3000 every week on hours
with the vagaries of long and short hauls
if they were all 1800 mile runs be easier![]()

I would have a real good guess who that DM is, if he's in Rockwall. I believe I am very fortunate to have drawn the DM I did. The more I learn and prove myself, the more he looks out for me. But there's this one DM there that has yet to be helpful, informative, or even recognizably human when I have had to deal with him. And he seems to think drivers are the lowest form of sentient life. Why that guy is in that job I have no idea.HometimeQueen Thanks this.

the unfortunate part of the industry we are at the mercy of dispatch
-
Thanks, Honeybadger! That is the style of work boot my husband prefers and they are actually a bit less than what the Wolverines were.I appreciate the link! He will need a new pair of boots for the winter.
bwaync, I will look forward to your input for the blog. Don't worry about any typos ....we all make them! I think the index cards are a great idea for drivers to do!
Pete, unfortunately you are right about dispatch. We found that out for the 9 months that Husband had the worst DM ever. It wasn't that she was hateful or uncaring ....in this case she was just woefully unqualified. Our income went down a little over $8000 that year, it was rough. Husband was out the same amount of time and it was costing the same amount for him to be out on the road. The really sad part is that it wasn't TransAm's idea to replace her, it was hers ....she decided that she just couldn't handle it. You are at the mercy of the company's choice and training of dispatchers and DMs. There have been several industry and insurance studies that site dispatcher qualifications and churning as a safety hazard for the trucking industry ....and yet nothing changes .....the bottom line is that they are making tremendous profits doing what they are doing, so there is no incentive to change. So much at TransAm depends on who your DM is ....and if you are new to the industry and get a lousy DM then your chances of succeeding are almost nil. Dispatch makes the difference between a workable situation or pure misery.
That's one reason I have stayed here and tried to do the blog ....anything that can help a driver, make it a little easier and a little less stressful is worth the time and effort. -
Anheuser Busch, 1701 Exchange Pkwy, Waco,TX.
Treq GPS will send you every way but the right way!
From I-35, take Exit 330B. Take that road to the Beverly Drive exit. Take the service road to a stop sign, make a U-turn left under the highway and back the other direction on the service road. Turn right on Exchange Pkwy, AB is the first bldg on the right.
Been to this place 4 times, Treq has yet to send me the same way twice.HometimeQueen, Cranky Yankee, kirk and 1 other person Thank this. -
Flip-flops when I am in the driver's seat, I switch over to a pair of Dr. Scholl's closed toe shoes when I get out of the cab. I never wore slip on shoes until I started driving a truck, like the ease of switching over with slip on.
I saw a pair of slip on steel toe but as it turns out, I don't really need steel toe in the places TransAm goes.
-
Hiya passport! Are you back in the USA? Yes, Husband also likes the slip ons. You are correct the steel toes aren't needed with TransAm ....he always wore them when he was an HVAC contractor. What we found was that when he was working on his feet all day the Wolverine durashock boots had a cushioned sole that was much easier on your back and knees... but they won't hold up to diesel fuel. He switches back and forth on what he wears ....but after wearing boots for most of his working career that's what he puts on by default. Habit, mostly I think.
