Loaded and rolling a few miles to the Russell Road TA in IL/WI. I am about to cross the bridge, there is a semi stopped at the stop sign of the northbound exit ramp. It is a 45MPH road and clear and dry conditions.

Well I get within 100 feet and the driver decides to pull out from that stop sign!!! Like she thought it was a four way stop or something. No time for downshifting. I slammed the brakes and when mostly stopped I dumped the clutch to keep from stalling. She never stopped, just kept on with her left turn and rolled to the truck stop.

Caught by a tornado, and thown 40 feet into a cornfield. Seen a lot of crazy, but flying a semi is as scary as it gets.

Semi vs. Dump Truck vs. Car -

I was 9 or 10 years old on Summer break; riding with my uncle. My mother drove out to drop me off with him at a truck stop. He just upgraded to a brand new truck and he spent an hour showing us every detail before we left. I'd be on the road with him for three weeks while my mother worked on my grandmother's house. My dad was serving overseas.

I fell asleep in the seat for maybe an hour and woke to us noodling through detours near some heavy construction. A semi ahead of us came up to a 4-way intersection and paused at a stop sign while a dump truck approached from the right. The semi then pulled out in front of the dump truck. The dump driver laid on the horn and hit the brakes, but he couldn't stop. He was moving fast. The semi kept grabbing gears and the tractor got clear, but the dump truck hit toward the rear of the trailer. The trailer blew apart and threw stuff all over. It was hit so hard that the tandems flew around and hit a station wagon approaching in the opposite direction. The dump truck wound up on it's side in a ditch after the collision. The car was obviously totaled.

My uncle pulled off to help. He told me to stay put. Many people came over from the construction site and emergency response was quick. An officer walked over to check on me at one point. My uncle came back after things were cleaned up enough to pass. He only looked at me and said, "He thought it was a 4-way stop."

There have been a couple but one that always sticks in my mind was when I was driving a cabover and a truck took out a light pole, which in turn dropped the signal light down into my windsheild. Them things are big up close and personal.

Honestly, for me it was just a few days ago, i was coming out of Arizona into new mexico, get to mile marker 16, and out of no where the sky starts to dump rain, and hail, and the wind flared up crazy as all h e double hockey sticks, to make matters worse I couldnt see any thing but the hood of my truck, and red lights along the shoulder and exit ramps I thought about pulling off, but there were so many cars on the shoulders, and lining the exit ramps, some with their rear ends in the lane of travel, I decided it was safer to slowed down, and then I found another driver infront of me that i could make out his brake lights, and got him on the cb letting him know i was behind him, and using him to guide me, it only lasted all of 10 minutes, but was scary as hell

then there was the time coming into salt lake city, my trainer was driving, I was laying in the bunk, and I hear the low brake air buzzer come on, instead of pulling off, he continued on the the terminal, I think we got there just before the valves would have popped out

Eating the food at Franks t/s in Chesapeake Va. The pork BBQ looked like a pile of cat puke. But boy was it good...
