There's hundreds of carriers better than CRE and only a few worse than CRE>keep looking.

 

So you applied to CR England, did research and found out they're not so great but you're here asking if it is a good choice???

 

Starting out, there really are no good choices. Just plug your nose, and get shafted for a year, then find a good solib southern CA company. Thnk of it like boot, only longer. They won't teach you what you really need to know, but they WILL give you the basics for staying alive.

 

If you can use you Bill to get the training to get your CDL you would be much better off going and getting your CDL and then find a company that will take you, these guys who hold you as an endentured servant for a year after you get trained is not a good thing, If you can find the type of trucking you want to do, Flatbed reefer Dry van or anything else you can start to narrow it down to above average companies, I would suggest that you get the training and head up to Missoula MT. where Watkins Shepard does their 10 Day Orientation they teach you everything you need to know to get out on the road and to run a truck down the road safely, NOW you are not hired until AFTER the Orientation is completed and they feel comfortable with the way that you can control the truck in certain situations. In this 10 days you will learn to shift up and down grades you will learn how to handle a run away truck, And the whole time is an interview, if the office staff comes and asks you to help them with something go do it, they need your help but you are also being tested for your willingness to go out of your way to help others. Do the local community colleges offer training?

England only sets you up to run refers. If you want to run anything other than refer you should definitely run away.

A different way to approach it is; figure out what you want to run then ask the companies that run that freight who the recommend.

 

Look at Knight; they have a CDL training program. Reading the website, it seems to be a new program they offer.

A CDL school will make you hireable because as a student you are worth $$$ from the US Government to your new employer. The money will come, you have earn it, work for it.
