My Navigo wants to route me from i25 to NM26 to i10 -- would save a decent chunk of miles, but my RM atlas says it is not a staa route and that NM has a 48' trailer limit & 65' overall length limit on state roads... Has anyone gone this way before? Am I likely to encounter law enforcement at 3am?
Only grossing 45k so shouldn't have to worry about weight restrictions, & my tandems are at 38' so it turns rather sportingly for a 75' truck&trailer...
New Mexico 26 to Deming -- overlength?

Seems like I have run that many times with a 53' when I was with Knight. Never had any problems. But then that was back before 2005, so my memory may be bad, or the road may have changed.

I was trying to get fom Ruidoso to ABQ today and copilot said head east on 70 to 380,signs say no trucks over 65' on 380 between Hondo and Carrizozo on 380. Got out and measured and with my fifth wheel sucked up Im a few feet over that 65'. About that time the copilot GPS function on my EOBR decided to take an out of service for the day,my ipad and phone are horible at least with the standard issue four wheeler GPS. I ended digging out my rand mcnally (its been a long time,my vision was much better) and decided it would be best to run back out to Tulerosa then up 54 to 380 to I-25.

you'll be fine driver. trucks take that route consistently.
it's no different then taking the 550 from durango do the 25 into ABQ. and i hauled 60 foot rebar
there's no cops. or towns untill you get to the end.
my pcmiler or copilot always route me on that road. along with a ton of other roads that rand won't. as long as the road meets the parameters i have set.double yellow Thanks this. -
No towns? What is Hatch, chopped liver?
SHC Thanks this. -
I say take it. Your trailer is over the restricted length and your over all length is over the restricted length. The police departments need to make quota and I need more freight, this will for sure affect your CSA score.

Don't worry about it. The NM Motor carrier enforcement doesn't enforce that law that I know of. Its an outdated reg that the legislature doesnt have on its to do list. I think they'd only write you up if you were on a road already restricted for whatever reason. I've been stopped by the MC cops at the border patrol checkpoint north of Deming (they love to set up there at night, once you clear la migra, la DOT wants to #### chat on the other side) and they made no mention of my trailer.

I run it all the time. My truck is 78' long overall, and have never had a single problem. No idea why you WOUDN'T run it...
