120,000 miles a year with $4 per gallon fuel is $32,820 difference in fuel cost that would be $328,200 over 10 years time that could buy a couple of new trucks with some extra spending money to boot with that much fuel mileage difference.
Wow!
Why the long Hoods?

260 not bad at all--if never drove a hood take little getting used to Mines 285 & no troubles course been in some type of hood since the late 70s--but really doesn't require as much adjustment as u may think
As for opening the door--personal preference--better view--but I was taught that way and that was on a B Model Mack--lol
But u don't have to--I can do it either way--cuz I can't remember the last time I stuck my head out the door in the rain........... -
Always be conscience of your front bumper when backing a hood. The ends will get hooked on something in a tight squeeze and pull outwards. Nothing looks worse than a hood with a front bumper that looks like a set of bull horns :-/

When you look at expenses, Fuel mileage is the one cost you can control the most by truck choice and driving style. A lot of other expenses are out of our control like tires, parts cost, tolls etc. So whatever you choose focus on efficiency to maximize your profit.

No they dont the only difference i can tell is that i could see the back of my 70 inch sleeper in my mirrors with my 8 and cant with the 10 but i can see the back of the trailer and that is what matters most right lol

When I'm riding down the highway, on a clear moonlit night, hardly no traffic in sight, ice coffee in hand...you learn to appreciate how much money your saving on fuel because of that Aero. Don't ask me why, but on those nights I really love what I do. I just don't think I would enjoy flushing money out the exhaust by driving a long nose brick.

I think by the quote "Just about as good fuel mileage" he meant a difference of maybe .1 or .2 MPG.... If You guys got the MPG the truck I drive now for ready mix in Chicago gets, you'd be broke! I drive about 60-100 miles a day depending and use anywhere from 25-30 gallons a day....
Besides, I use to get 6+ in a 62 MPH 379. Mostly OD loads and would still get over 6 with a 475 ACCERT. If I had my own 379, I would bet I could make it get 7+ on a regular basis with a single turbo high HP Cat. Drive it right with the right mods and pull the right kind of trailer and why not? I could Avg over 7 from Gary IN to Des Moines IA loaded at 78-80K every time no matter what! -
Yea i mean if you compare apples to apples you guys would be surprised what long hoods would do like i said if you had a good running truck and a driver that knows how to run it now my trucks wont compare to them numbers because we run around 90000 gross and drive alittle faster than 62 mph
