....Haven't you been told, Odessa's full of whiskey, women and gold.
I've been in this saddle before, and I'm headed off to do it again. Gunna go be a Frac Sand Cowboy working the Permian Basin shale play. I decided to start this thread to somewhat chronicle my misadventures in the oilfield to anyone who may be interested. I finally got all the T's dotted and I's crossed on my contract. With a little bit of luck I should be loaded and headed west by Tuesday of next week.
I'll keep y'all posted, Keep the greasy side down!

Thanks for starting another "my adventure" thread. I think these real life experience posts are very helpful, especially to those who have no previous exposure to the oil field. When I get into a job, I hope I can be helpful to others as well. I am curious why you chose to go to the Permian instead of South Texas, since you are already there?Cottonmouth85 Thanks this.

So I really should be loading all my gear into the Pete, but its raining like crazy here in San Antonio. Looks like its really gunna be a busy next couple of days. Funny how when you get out on the road is when you can relax and when you're home you run around like a scalded dog. Hope the FedEx man has my TruckFridge here in the morning... hope the mailman brings my over gross permit... guess its a good a time as any to go hook up and test the Sirius radio.

I've always enjoyed the "my adventure" threads as well... plenty of information and good reading. Its pretty ironic that I'm going west since south Texas offices for Haliburton, Weatherford, Schlumberger, EOG and Baker Hughes are all within a half hour drive from my house. There are plenty of jobs for company drivers in the Eagle Ford area and they pay pretty good for the most part. I'm going west because the rates for an O/O pneumatic driver have really dropped around here. There's still work... just not enough money for me.

Been a pretty productive morning. Changed the oil and replaced the air filter on my blower. Greased the truck front to back. Assembled my discharge hoses (I carry about 100ft in all different lengths) and got them loaded on the trailer. Had to remove all the plumbing from the bottom of the trailer to install new bottom drop T's.... new parts sure are pretty. Got everything put back together and pressure tested it. Held 15psi for over an hour so I guess I did everything right. Time to stop for a beer and a burger.... I'll post more later this evening.
