While I was out in training, we encountered a situation that I would like some "For Future Reference" information for.
We came to a distribution center, check in, and were asked to park in a somewhat over crowded staging parking lot. To wait for our number to be called. We pulled to the end, out of the way of all we could foresee. Someone left a space, two other trucks came up to fill it before we could react. One started pulling into position, and began backing. Nothing was hit, no one maimed, but all was not well.
A driver, my trainer called a "Super Trucker" started screaming and howling at everyone and everything. His words for me? "Back the #$%k up or I'm going to kick your F#$%ing @#s" over and over again. All this while pacing around and screaming, barking orders at everyone in shouting distance. We backed up, though it wasn't necessary. The other driver pulled in. And later we took the spot next to him. I took a pic or two of his truck and turned in his info at the guard shack at our turn to pull into the distribution center. The ladies in there took interest in this situation and 3 hours later, after we finished unloading and started to leave, we saw him pulling up for his turn. He was originally there before us, and got out after. We saw that as justice.
I now open this up for discussion. Any comments, stories, or reprimands I may deserve. Is there anything I could have done better? Did I do this right?
Edit, thought to include a pic of the guy's truck.

If no one was hit and all you did was pull into a crowded lot well that's the way it goes. You can either ignore the guy or tell him if he's so tough to come on over here, lol
mje Thanks this. -
Sounds like the guy had a crappy day. Everyone.... does.... eventually..... if I had a penny for every swear word and hand signal I'd be super rich.
mje and luvtotruck Thank this. -
Sounds like this guy needs to go thru anger management classes. Its just a job no need to get so angry.I imagine his bp is clean over the charts.
fr8te_sh8ker, CondoCruiser and mje Thank this. -
Hey I flipped someone off today, granted he was being pretty rude in Chicago area traffic.
mje Thanks this. -
That's normal communication for Chicago traffic. I doubt anyone noticed.mje Thanks this.

Let me guess, he beats his wife if he has one. He looks for hours in the mirror at himself. He once beat up a 3rd grader when he was in the 9th grade so he think he is tough. He threw temper tantrums as a kid until his parents gave in.
He is one that ties up the fuel island and parks beside the Catscale. He has a rebel flag hanging up as a curtain. He loves his 6" belt buckle but can only see it when he is not wearing it. He gives everyone the mean look and has never held a door open for someone in his life. This is the 4th job he had this year after paying off his England loan and he discovered they are all the same. He stubbed his toe and ripped his flip flop in two.

Can't control the actions of others, only how you react to them. Doubtless he is a pretty miserable little man. It's a concern because people who let themselves be run by emotions are often dangerous when behind the wheel. I think calmly backing up was the right thing to do; de-escalate the situation -- "Yield To Others." And reporting it to the shipper seemed reasonable also; they have a safety interest in whether they have a person like that on their premises. Finally, nothing is worth getting into a fistfight at a shipper or consignee or anywhere else; they'll just throw both your behinds out of the place. Just my $0.02

Well actually, only thing I could focus on was his beer belly hanging out of his vest shirt. Of which was unbuttoned. The chest-hairless wonder was screaming cause he thought the other driver had a good chance of backing into his precious.
Couldn't see a rebel flag, but the clear coat on the hood of that ole' Peterbilt was thoroughly peeled off. I kinda feel bad for him now. He had to sit there how-ever-many hours. Maybe a few more on account of me reporting him for his poor actions and verbal assault on me. But mostly I feel bad, cause he's probably not making all that much he can keep. And he doesn't see that he's his own worst enemy.mje Thanks this. -
U did the right thing I myself would've escalated it by cursing and talking back which probably wouldn't have helped but that's just me.
