    One of the big 3 (MT, BHW, of ADMIN) will have to say for sure, but my guess is because it is impossible to control the level of discourse in real time. Without out moderation the level of discourse falls to the lowest common denominator, and it's not much fun. Go into Politics here (password thickskin) and you'll see what I mean. And some of the other boards out there are worse than that in all their sub-forums. The boss man wants this to be an information source, and someplace that doesn't lower the public's opinion of truckers; both of which would be hard to maintain in a free for all. The slight lag in spontaneity is well worth the far more civilized behavior as far as I'm concerned.
