Mine wasn't due yet but I moved. Originally I didn't renew the haz mat but no I want it so I am waiting. Guess I should have done it right away.

I dont really care to do hazmat but most my hazmat loads are either paint or industrial cleaning solutions so it hasn't been too bad. Only problem is the hazmat loads tend to be overweight so i have to watch them more than others--of course i dont get the ticket so it dont matter much i guess. But i still hate to get to VA and get pounded with an overweight ticket.

I never used mine but I'm trying to get a truck on with landstar and they want it.

If, and, I hope never, there is ever a explosive laden, flammable carrying, tanker driven into a mall, and detonated, I am relatively sure that the charred remains of the driver will not have in their pocket a CDL with an "X" endorsement.
Yer' durn tooten! It is just another tax to support, yet another bureaucratic organization. When it's all said and done, there will be more said than done, and some fat cats will be a little fatter.
And, by the way, in case you haven't heard, if you pull HAZMAT, and go into the ports, you are about to be "double dipped" with the new Transportation Worker's Identification Credential. It is a duplication of the HAZMAT background check, but, they know we're gullible and will ante up twice. -
Amen! The Patriot Act is nothing more than vaseline to lube our backsides for the ramming we are about to receive from our Goobermint. Stop the insanity now by refusing to pay the "Hazmat Tax". Hell, even if the companies starting paying this tax for the drivers, it's still WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
Not THIS driver... I won't pay it. Somewhere, Osama is laughing his ### off at all the hell he has caused in this country--seven years later and we're STILL suffering the effects. We are not free anymore, regardless of what anyone tells you. -
That's true... a terrorist could hijack a truck but they would have to use it right away since truck locations are monitored by the companies. I think the feds are more worried about whackos since there were as many questions about my mental stability as there were about my legal status when I filled out the paperwork. I'm not sure that putting signs all over a truck ...advertising SPECIFICALLY what is inside is the best idea. If a terrorist wants to hijack a truck load of gasoline they may end up with a milk truck. Maybe they should put the placards on the top of the truck... then when emergency personnel arrives where a truck rolled over it would be easy to read.
