So I am a 26 yr old man with limited cash flow that has been trucking for two years as a company mule but doing ok for my self 41cpm plus local for 3 days a week. That job ended so I was forced into this company job , making 41 cpm but otr and there bs computing of miles. I found myself last week looking at a truck that this older man was selling... its a 2000 t2000 with the 3406e 475. Its been overhauled 70,000 miles ago platmun with esp. New clutch 22000 ago. Virgin tires allthe way with 90% left. Brakes all 60 or better and diffs have been done 100k ago. He has all receipts and I called and verified all the above.. he was asking 28500 and up front I told him I didn't have that much... he had open heart and can't drive anymore but he had good insurance that covered disabled. After I looked everything over with him he asked me what I had saved for a truck.. I was honest with 14500 and he said write him the check and merry Christmas. So I own a truck but have almost no cash flow right now to get started. What do I do

Contact Farm2Fleet and ask if they can use you. You can pick your own loads.

Contact OOIDA also about insurance, etc. The website is OOIDA. It is an organization for the 0/0 and small fleet owner.

You could stay with your current company until you save some money. Just because you bought a truck doesn't necessarily mean that you have to run out and immediately put it to work. I would suggest that you save some money before doing anything, if you gave everything you have saved to the truck owner. It sounds like you got a very good deal. Many of the larger carriers will advance money for base plates and permits. The carrier will then deduct weekly payments for those costs from your settlements. They will also advance money on each load to cover fuel. Some may also have a sign on bonus, but those are usually not paid all at once, but spread out over several months. Some carriers are better than others. You are heading in the right direction when it comes to starting with NO debt. That is a big plus. You have enough experience where you should be able to find a home for your truck as long as your MVR and CSA are clear.

The truck just had everything changed I guess that guy liked me cuz he sent it in while the check was clearing. I would stay at the company I'm at but its a fly by night and a sound good company. Its a palce to use and get on with it.. csa / mvr not the best not the worst... one high speed in my car and an overweight when I first started driving / last three yrs
