Something to consider. If your management of your personal finances are such that your "credit is horrible", it's unlikely that you would make it as an O/O.

Wow. Not many positive responses. We truckers aren't very optimistic are we. My credit is messed up because of bad decisions in my early twenties. People can grow and mature. Anybody on here have any ideas or we just gonna kick the lease purchase dead horse idea. I'm sure I'm not the only guy that dreams of driving his own business.

You can buy a truck (not lease) through Greatwide and haul their loads. They even give you 2 grand for the down payment. Check the website. I don't think the credit is an issue, because you're hauling their loads.

Why not save some money walk to a use dealer and then drive away? If you lease a truck they still control it..

Do you have any money saved? Do you have money saved other than enough for a small down payment? You're sounding like you only want to hear "Yeah, you can do it, check out freetruck.com. Good luck!!!". You're just gonna break yourself more if you jump into owning or even leasing with no savings and no solid plan. No one in this thread has been insulting to you, it's all very fair statements.

You have made poor financial decisions in life and you want another chance. You now must earn trust again there is an old saying fool me once shame on you fool my twice shame on me. No one wants to give you any money and why would they. I suggest you save your money and pay cash because that is all you can do if you do not have the discipline to save your money then how would you be able to make the payment anyway. Just remember you made those decisions.

Why does everyone thing it would be so great to own a truck when they have no operating capital and no track record of managing money effectively? If you want to get taken advantage of and drive around for nothing all the time I can't think of a better way to do it. OP, you'll get taken to the cleaners, IF, someone takes a chance on you.

You're in Louisiana, work on the oil field, pay one of these agencies to fix your credit while you work, save a down payment, it'll be about 4-8 months. Then once you're told your credit is good, jump and buy the truck with your down.
