I would like to take a moment and say thank you to all who have posted. I have read most of this thread and it is an invaluable piece of information for those who go to TransAm. I will be starting orientation on Oct 2nd in Olathe. I am a recent truck school grad and I figured this company is as good as any to get my feet wet. Here is a little info about who I am for those who are interested. I am a retired Chief Petty Officer with over 21 years of active duty in the US NAVY. I have traveled the world and now I want to travel the US. This is why I got into this business. Please keep the information coming. Every little bit will help us newbies....

The truly sad part of it is that the driver bears the legal responsibility but the training is controlled by the schools and the carriers. Most drivers want to make a living and do a good job but he/she can only do the job as well as they have been taught.
Panhandle flash Thanks this. -
Welcome, EMCHIEF. Good luck in orientation and as you begin your new career as a driver. Let us know if we can help you with anything. Be sure and check out our blog. I have been a bit slow in adding information this week, but eventually I think we can round it out to be of help to the drivers. We are deeply grateful for your service to our country and it's citizens ....you are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you HTC. Trust me when I say this.. It was my honor to serve in the Armed forces. I had really good times and some really bad ones there. I'm going into this career with a military mindset. I will work hard and learn as much as I can as soon as I can. The rest will come in its own way. I will probably have a ton of questions later on and I will take you up on that offer!
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
I cant think of any other career that could prepare one better for trucking
hurry up and wait
then why wasn't it done yesterday
nonsensical orders from higher up
that don't work at 3 am in the field
you will be fine
with all the complaining transam isn't a bad company to start with
get your experience and move onHometimeQueen Thanks this. -
transam pete that is exactly what I plan on doing. Get the expeirence and that will open up more options for me later. You know what they say.. A complaining Sailor is a happy Sailor. does that go for truck drivers too? lol .

well I ran commercial fishing boats on the atlantic for 35 years
we would always follow the complainers
knew they were catchin fish -
So you know what the sea life is like. That is not an easy career either. I almost became a CIVMAR. It was a toss up between that or truck driving. I always wanted to try the truck driving thing and now I'm doing it. I figured I would get home more often then if I were on the high seas...

Hey you! You have been on my mind! How are you, Badboy? Are you feeling better? Are you back at work? You have been in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that everything is going better for you! I kept looking for you on here and hoping to catch you online.
I am doing well. Keeping busy and for the most part trying to stay out of trouble!
