Hi, I am trying to venture into the trucking world. But with no experience, its hard to get started. Thats why I have to decided to go with schneider in the bulk division. If any could, I would like some advice and tips on pursuing this career. Any information will be greatly appreciated. I am scheduled to begin class on april, 5th. Also I have a few questions. 1. Are you allowed to take trucks home? 2. Can you put TV's in the Truck? 2. Whats the home time like in the bulk division?
thanks,
Lil d

From what I heard the Bulk Div is a good div to get in with at Schneider. I think most of those guys are home nightly and are salaried. Yes, you can have a TV but get a 12V one since they don't allow inverters. But again if you are home nightly then you won't really have time to watch TV in the truck. All the one's I saw do have a sleeper but they are not extended cabs and are the low profile roofs.

Cool, Thanks alot for the info. I'm just trying to see what i'm getting myself into. Because of the good things and bad things I hear. Guess i'm gonna find out for myself. thanx.

the sni bulk is a good division they run otr just like vans and also have dedicated accounts. not many i have talked to are home every night but some are. bulk gets an extra 2 cents a mile but there is more to do when you unload. as far as tvs go you can have a tv and up to a 1500 watt (i think dont have my manual) inverter which has to be cig lighter powered (not wired into the trucks electral system) the trucks are mostly freightliner century mid roofs with i think a 70" sleeper but your recruiter would know all the specs on the trucks or at least could find out. the school is tough fast and through if you have any question i can answer them. i run vans for schneider but have a couple friends in bulk and can find out any bulk speciffic questions you might have.

Since when? Schneiders written policy has always been no inverters over 180W.
And good luck finding a 1500w inverter that you can run out of a cig lighter....I'd buy 100 cases of fuses. -
ill look it up on crosroads (the company website) and post the sni policy you can at least have a big enough inverter to run a tv for sure.

Yeah a 180W would run a TV and so would a 12V adapter.

At least from what I've read on the internet, bulk OTR drivers get 6 days home a month. Supposedly spaced out however you choose.

All I can tell you our son lives next door to a Scheinder drive an yes he does bring his truck home but I'm not sure if its becuse of his situation.
Good luck to you. My husband is also looking to go there soon. He has to get his permit first.
