I wish I could make money by turning down high paying loads and taking low paying loads because I dont like going to some places. I'll go to Guatemala for the right amount of money.

I don't take low paying loads. I have my lanes and really don't have to move out of them to make good money. At the same time I really don't care if someone is willing to pay $7 a mile to move a load from TN to NJ. When that storm hit the east coast several months ago I passed up on loads like that.

Who knows what tomorrow holds? Conspiracy theory abounds..... We are now running with a government shutdown and no one is blinking? Things can get better or worse for sure. lets hope it gets better for all!

Exactly! There are some states that just don't exist in my atlas. Mostly states that are unfriendly to trucks and truckers.

Even with a reefer, we get good rates to run where we want. No need to go to CA or the east coast either.

I'll believe it when I see it.
There are plenty of newer CA legal trucks out there to haul that freight.
Imo, any rate increase will be small and temporary.
Furthermore, if a truck shortage actually developed, all CA has to do is declare that non-dpf trucks can haul freight in their state .
I have a 2002 model year engine. They can have it when they pry it from my cold ,dead fingers.

Look at CA rates right now.....in the toilet when they should moving higher because of seasonal demand.....nope IMO CA rates may show a very quick spike but will be surprised if it lasts more than a month, plus after the Christmas rush is over CA freight dies off until after Easter.

I'm in the same camp as the Lone Ranger......even the same MY motor!!
