Ok so I will finsh school next month. I am doing research on diffrent trucking company's posibaly to much research cause now I'm more torn than ever. I'll start this out like this most small companys won't higer be due to a 23 over speeding ticket I got rushing my daughter to the hospital 2 yrs and 2 months ago when she was very sick. Also I had a dui but that was when I was 21, I'm now 35. So that dosnt come into play any more other than just being a black mark. Haven't even had a drink in 13 years. The companys I'm looking at are ROEHL , Stevens transport , maverick, Schneider, and possibly US express, any other companies you guys can think of let me know I'm in dayton ohio. Out of those what's your opinion on witch is well best ? ( and yes I already know none of them are perfect). These are the endorcment I'll have air breaks, hazmat, tanker, doubles. I would prefur to drive an automatic But can drive manual also I'd rather go some where with no touch freight. Not wanting local right now but also don't want to be out 3 weeks at a time. I'm thinking regional so I have some better home time. all the companies I've listed above meet at least some of what I'm looking for I'd say the home time being the most important. That's why ROEHL is on there for there home time plus program 7 on 4 off 7 on 3 off
Your thoughts are aprecated especially if you work for one of the above companies or one maybe I've forgotten about.?
Im trying to make an informed choice help me out

Also, with the - I prefer automatic, no touch freight, etc. might be setting yourself up for some disappointment; especially having zero experience.
I say, be open and just do your research and look around.blairandgretchen and adam23 Thank this. -
I do not know what your income requirements are but I hope it is low as you will not be bringing home a ton of money unless you stay out longer. Once you have a few years experience you can probably find a gig that pays ok being home weekly but it is going to be very hard to do that as a rookie.

Smaller companies have a more lenient insurance company so if they won't hire you then what makes you think a mega company would? How old is this speeding ticket? What you have on your record is a reckless.Companies wait 3 to 5 yrs before giving you a chance. Also if your daughter was that sick then why didn't you call 911?

Maverick would be a good fit for you. (-And Roehl seems to be a well run outfit also I will say- but I do not drive for them.)

OhUOTE=loves2fruck;3573422]Just my opinion, that's a tough situation - you want OTR but are looking for a 7/4 - 7/3? Not sure if the money you'll make driving for a mega would even justify that schedule over local or regional (maybe 10 - 14 days out?).

And if any of them have the automatic and no touchloves2truck Thanks this. -
Pattyj we where on our way home from her track meet already in the Car she started grabing her chest gasping for air so and we where 1 exit from a hospital that's why I took her and anyway I did not ask for anyone's opinion on my speeding ticket and why I didn't call 911 this is a question of what company might be best for me so get over yourself on that 911 stuff I knew somebody would ask or say something silly like that people just don't know how to not pick

I started driving in '77. The best job I had was a private company, 7 trucks Mom and Pop. New equipment, home every weekend. Kept us running; got the miles. Many deliveries per load, but you really got a lot of experience in tight situations and backing up. Next was small to mid-sized company, 500-600 trucks or less. Regional company with long established history. This is where your performance can make you or break you. Run every minute you can, never be late and get along with your dispatcher. Once he can count on you, and you get along personality wise, you will get the miles and be home. The dispatchers work with the planners, and he can request what he needs for his driver. Lastly the bigger companies. Gordon Trucking was the biggest I worked for but didn't like it. Not personable, company computer does most of the job, tells you your route, were to fuel etc, etc., spent a lot of money of lounges at their terminals. I needed a headlight replaced. Waited 2 days, wasn't making money, but I was comfortable. Hated it.

Not looking to get rich I got money just looking to get out of the house a week or so at a time but at the same time I don't wanna be treated poorly either.

I work for Schneider on a dedicated account. I don't have much experience. Check them out I'm happy so far and they have a lot of positions available. I'm home every weekend, sometimes during the week, and paid salary.
