Maverick Transportation.
Willis Shaw Express might have a few automatics.
If you're in the hiring area, JBS Carriers will send you to Roadmasters & they will teach you to drive a stick. CRST will teach you and team you for 8 months.
What city/state do you live in? -
Salisbury nc

In training you will learn many things, like how to back up a semi, how to pre-trip a semi, how to drive a manual transmission, etc etc etc
Open your mind. If you avoid learning or if you fear the fundamentals of truck driving you'll have limited choices and that's not good for your career.Chinatown Thanks this. -
On the website JBS Carriers hires in your area.
Goodwill Industries has free CDL school in NC; research the website. If you can get this program, then you could hire on with Howard Transportation in Kenly, NC & they have automatics.
If you want teams doing West Coast turnarounds, after CDL school, look at WLA Inc., Cooke Trucking Co., Hardy Bros. Inc.
You're in the hiring area for most companies.Jrdude5 and fr8te_sh8ker Thank this. -
I've delivered there with refrigerated company; it's been a while, but I think is was a Sysco warehouse.

When I was inns book we had a student that had never driven a manual.. but they were able to teach just fine... And as stated it will open up more options for you..
-
883bedromrider is correct, more options for you with learning the manual transmission. Many ppl didn't know how to drive a stick whn then first got into trucking.I for one didn't have a clue. But answer to your question,I don't any companies with automatics that train.
-
Unless you have a handicap that doesn't allow you to clutch, get trained on manual transmissions. Otherwise, your license will note "automatic only", and you will be limited on where you can work.
Drivers with no manual shifting experience learn better than people that shifted in cars previously in many cases. Unlearning single clutching to learn double is tougher for many than knowing nothing and learning double.
Just do it.pattyj Thanks this. -
I couldn't agree with you more.I have brought that up many times.Sure there are companies that train automatics somewhere but your limited and suppose you have your eye on a company only one thing, all they have us the standard 10 speed, you're going to have to go thru training all over.
