:biggrin_2559: I hear ya! I was trying to put in a link to google maps and the address just doesn't look right to me. Then I just looked up JBS in Cactus and that map shows you what appears to be a home when you zoom in on it. I just want to make sure I have it right when I put it on the blog ...I don't want to provide anyone with the wrong info. Thanks

I got my truck on Friday but I think they want me to feel some of the frustration you guys feel as I am still sitting and waiting for my first load and feeling a little frustrated cause it still hasn't been picked up in Greeley, Co. I guess the only positive way to look at it is at least I will get a 34 hr restart. I am sitting in the J in Peculiar cause I figure if I have to sit and wait I might as well do it somewhere with a nice lounge showers and someplace to eat. Will be watching games in lounge. It has been so long since I have been to a big company I forgot that the guy running orientation lives in a fantasy perfect world, the stuff he says is almost comical(EMCHIEF) but no worries you will see the difference when you get out there. I did not meet my dispatcher( I forget what their title is) but I met another who is part of his group who told me they were the best, I might have to talk to her on Monday about a statement like that and then you leave a driver in the wind for the weekend and that meaning that you are not the best. Maybe I don't know yet have to see how this goes but so far a bad start will Bi@#$ on Monday to someone don't know who yet but the theory being the squeaky wheel gets the oil or replaced we will see(LOL)

The load they assigned me is now moving and is in Colby, Ks. so after the drivers break they will roll the load to the yard sometime later this afternoon and then I will finally be rolling:biggrin_2554::biggrin_25519:. Thought it wasnt suppose to get here till tomorrow so I am pleasantly surprised:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2554::biggrin_25522:

Good morning everyone... I'm sorry you are sitting and waiting,jaso36. Would you be entitled to any layover/detention pay? My philosophy is always ask. I don't know what the hold up was on your load, but in this case it may have been the bad weather that hit that area during the early part of the weekend.

joey, I have the same question for you, would you be entitled to any detention pay? If I understood correctly, you were there for on time delivery....it was TA that messed up.

I know, I know ....I push the asking for "extra" pay part. The first year Husband was with TransAm we lost out many times by not requesting it. We just got in the habit of always putting in for it.....sometimes it was approved and sometimes not ....but anything is better than nothing. I think TransAm counts on not having to pay for some of these issues..... I don't like to let them get away with that. Also, request it in writing not over the phone.

Another point that we have never really talked about is requesting a preplan. If you have a good Driver Manager they are going to try and plan ahead for you, especially over the weekend. That doesn't mean that night/weekend dispatch won't mess that up ....try not to be in a high swap area.... but at least you know that you are on the board for another load. Not all DM's are created equal :biggrin_2559:, Husband had some that were great at taking care of business and some that couldn't do anything without someone holding their hand. If your DM has not planned ahead for you, do not wait until you are at your delivery to request a preplan. Request it before you get there and while the planners are still on duty.

    oliver2 and jaso36 Thank this.

no i wont get detention pay hometimequeen because i didnt take the load after this one that my dm set up for me. i have to be clear here..i have a good driver manager..Heather, so no problems there. i decided to stick with this load. i like to finish whatever load i have, p/u and delivery, unless i have an emergency. and my dm is preggo so i try to be professional as i can be.

Heather has been there a long time. I am glad you have a DM that you like. I am not real clear on some of the finer details of being a lease driver as my husband was always company. If he had been there for on time delivery and then had to wait he would have requested detention pay and chances are he would have received it depending on who his DM was at the time. Same thing goes for the situation with jaso36, had Husband been dispatched on a swap and had to wait longer than 24 hours for the swap driver he would have requested detention pay. Husband's second DM was fantastic, always on the ball and had him planned ahead. He had been a truck driver for a number of years and had more empathy for the various situations. He would always make sure that you got the pay you were entitled to ....unfortunately he is no longer with TransAm.

That completely makes sense. I will call if I need to. I know how to be very professional when I have to be. The last thing anyone should do is call with an attitude. You won't get anywhere then....

Here's a Sunday funny for you ....thought we needed a little chuckle ....and it is not a blonde joke!

Sitting on the highway waiting to catch speeders, a state police officer saw a car puttering along at 22 M.P.H. He thinks to himself, that car is just as dangerous as a speeder. So, he turns his lights on and pulls the car

over. Approaching the car, he notices there are 5 old ladies, two at the front and 3 at the back, wide eyed and looking like ghosts.

The driver obviously confused said,"Officer, I don't understand, I wasn't doing over the speed limit!, What seems to be the problem?" "Ma'am," the officer said, "you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be dangerous". "Slower than the speed limit? NO SIR! I was doing exactly 22 miles an hour", the old woman said proudly.

The officer containing a chuckle explains that 22 was the route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned, thanking the officer for pointing out her error. "Before I go Ma'am, I have to ask, is everyone OK?

These women seem badly shaken and haven't uttered a word all this time" "Oh! they will be alright in a minute, Officer, we just got off Route 142."
