I have over two years of flatbed experience hauling all types of freight. From equipment to coils. I have hauled oversize and over length loads. I will be moving from North Carolina to Hudson Michigan. I am currently with Jordan Carriers and love them but they wouldn't be able to get me home regularly in Michigan. I make $.43 CPM and am home weekends, I don't want to downgrade from that. I need recommendations for flatbed/specialized companies in and around southern Michigan. Also considering dry bulk. I have looked into Bowling transportation, and Tandem trans already. I am not interested in companies like tmc or maverick. Any help appreciated.

Bulkmatic has 2 terminals in Michigan and 2 in Northern Indiana. Map on the website shows the exact locations.
Foodliner has several terminals in that area & has dry bulk and liquid.H3llb1lly88 Thanks this. -
Don't they require three years experience?
-
Don't know about the 3 years; as with most companies, if they need drivers they bend their own hiring rules. Foodliner posts 2 yrs. driving experience. I worked for a tanker/hazmat company that required 3 yrs. tanker experience, but yet they hired 2 new CDL grads while I was there because of a driver shortage.H3llb1lly88 Thanks this.

Thank you good sir. I will give them a call tomorrow. Do you know anything about A&R, First Class, or Acord? Interest in those spawns purely off of their trucks

TMC will get you home 48 out of 52 week-ends and pays around .50/mile if you go on the % pay plan.

An ex-neighbor worked for A&R and loved the company. He averaged $72K per year & I think the overall company average is $62K. It's not hazmat either. They haul plastic pellets for injection molding. Easy money. Don't know about the others you listed.

My brother in law works for them and he can't stand it. He makes about 750-800 per week but he says his FM is more of a baby sitter. Which I've heard before from other drivers. I know I would be a shoe in there with prior military and my experience. Something about them just turns me off. Perhaps its the "Tarp More Cargo" that I always hear.

Buchanan Hauling & Rigging is out of Ft. Wayne, they'll get you home.

Steer clear of Tandem...you would take a serious pay cut...you shouldn't exclude TMC or Maverick. Check out Mizar Motors out of Toledo, OH. Good guys there and heard they are a good company to get on with.
There is a lot of work up there for drivers...but unemployment rates are still in the toilet so they don't want to pay much.H3llb1lly88 Thanks this.
