I am recently recovering from the successful outcome of an eye surgery operation
for retinal detachment. Has anyone experienced this before? Willing to share info about it?

I've never suffered a detached retina but I know two people who have.

I met a man at a coffee place a couple of weeks ago who had a lot of blood in his right eye. I asked if it was conjunctivitis (pink eye) and he said no, it was a detached retina. I asked what happened, was he in a car accident or had a blow to the head? And he replied, "No, I was just sitting at a restaurant eating a waffle and all of a sudden it was like a curtain was pulled over half of his eye." I replied that eating waffles would do it every time! :mlaugh: :mlaugh::mlaugh: He mentioned that the docs were just watching him for a week or so. Sometimes, if not severe, they will heal by themselves.

On a more serious note, my youngest sister (who suffers from Juvenile diabetes) had a cardboard box loaded with paper fall off a bookshelf at work and glance off the back of her head. It caused a disk compression problem in her neck and a detached retina. :biggrin_25513: Diabetics often suffer detached retinas even without a blow. Hers was successfully repaired with surgery too.

Hope you have no further problem with your eye!
