It said 13'-0" ooks like he could have made it under that bridge just barely. And it looked like a wide spot to the left where he could have backed up and turned around. Have his co driver get out and hold back traffic. Sad what happens when you panic.
I've been in that situation so I feel for the guy. But I didn't panic even after I hit the low clearance. I took a survey of the situation and decided I had to back up. Had to back half a block and through an intersection after I damaged the trailer on the low bridge but I did it.
Newbies don't try this!

At least a week.

Was that video taken by another USA driver?
-
No, by an East Tennessee electrician. He says the guy hit the bridge first, and he tried to motion him back but the driver cut left and went for it. I'm guessing that's why the video starts where it does. I thought about asking him, but that video had ~90K shares on FB, so I figured he was busy enough that I didn't want to bother him.DsquareD and NavigatorWife Thank this.

Yea,He could have turned around easy but did not have a clue and panic set in!
I bet the truck is near totaled!
It is a scary thought many of these guys share the road with us! -
When I was on dumb and dumber team at Stevens, we made a wrong turn in Montreal and wound up in a residential neighborhood. We made the u turn on a street like that using couple of lawns and beat a hasty retreat. I'm sure the home owners were shocked when they saw the wheel ruts on their lawns. No damage to the truck though.
EZ Money Thanks this. -
lmao,dumb and dumber,lol

That was the longest two weeks of my life.

That is pretty much what one of the comments on the page said, I suppose the electrician didn't have his phone out at the initial moment of impact.
I wonder if that was his co driver or just someone who was walking and tried helping.
Feel sorry for the poor dude, lack of experience and not thinking before doing. It looks like it would have been better to back up too, even if it would have taken calling the police for some help (better safe, than sorry). It would even have been better to call a tow truck maybe to help. -
lol,im getting this mental picture of dumb and dumber, lol.
