This only applies to the T.M.C. flatbed drivers who load out of W.S.C. in Decatur Al. those of you who repeatedly stay backed in the dock the entire time, while you get loaded, then sit there while you chain everything down, then tarp, then leave the truck while you walk to the bathroom, wait at window for your bills, e.t.c. please pull out after 1 or 2 chains on like the 85% of us. most of the T.M.C loads are skidded coils, so there is no need to chain it ALL down. I have had to ask 4 this week, after watching the drivers take over 2 hours to get out. there is only 3 bay's. get out so some one else other than a co driver that care about time can get in, throw one or two chains on & get out of the way. it's been 80 degrees & no rain, & you tie up the dock for what? all the drivers I ask to pull out, have been polite. I ask polite. the last one said I did not know any one was waiting to get in. I explained to him, I don't know how long you have been loading out of here, but the loaders do not call anyone back to the docks until a dock is empty. so YOU will NOT see a truck until you get your butt out. just assume there is a truck waiting. there always is. T.M.C. are not the only ones who do this, but they are the most frequent offenders. not all do this either. so please have some courtesy & tarp & do what you gotta do in the very huge lot that is right in front of the docks. thank you!

Can we just say NUCOR Decatur property period, not just Worthington. For some reason steel haulers forget common courtsey when they enter Morgan County. McElroy, WTI, Blair, Boyd ALL METALS just to name a few.

They may have a company policy that forbids them from moving vehicle before load is completely secured? but after that, they could be jerks, but its in every other field in this industry

You are suppose to have some sort of securement of the load before moving per company policy but the other stuff is just those drivers not having courtesy. I don't work there anymore but if I did or worked anywhere and had some driver doing that I would have asked them to move outside so I can get loaded and on the road. You could get the truck number and call into TMC and tell them that the driver was being inconsiderate at that shipper. Trust me, they would have called him and made him aware of the situation.

    Logan76 and MJ1657 Thank this.

securing the entire load is fine with me, but not tarping, log book, e.t.c. at this location. it is not common to BE ABLE to ask the driver to pull out, cause while the 3 docks may be full of trucks that will not pull out, the rest of the trucks in the staging area are quite a bit away & cannot see how many truck are in the docks. I just drove to the docks without being called back, cause I knew what some drivers do when they get in there. there used to be an employee that would not hesitate to ask only once for drivers to pull out. she was transferred to the porter IN. plant. the current loaders, don't mind & let the drivers do this cause, they have a break. while the docks are occupied for 2 hours they do not have to load or unload, so they are no help. one of the 4 drivers I asked to pull out said... well the last time I was here, I tarped inside & no one said anything.:biggrin_25513: I do know of a local dedicated day cab driver, who is always courteous. I hope that if any drivers read this & load out of the same steel mill, they will spread the word & likewise, if they see anyone holding up the dock, they should politely explain some courtesy.

I just remembered a place I used to haul coils to. KENWAL steel. in lebanon TN. those workers would tell you get out as soon as the coil was off your deck. there are signs everywhere. DO NOT PUT UP YOUR SECUREMENT, PULL OUT. they do not want you to pull in unless you have 1 or 2 chains left on coil. no untarping inside, no folding tarps or doing anything if your coil is off your deck, they want you in gear pulling out. this is on the receiving end. I never loaded out of there. at the DECATUR plant it is not just the loaders, but drives who unload & have NOTHING on the deck do the same thing. cannot say anything about securement, when THERE IS NOTHING TO SECURE. but I would not call in on a driver. it's just not me. I would rather talk to the driver.

Not meaning to point any fingers at any one person in particular, just a general observation.

I understand where the OP is coming from. It's very frustrating to see the things he posted about. I wish that more people would speak up let someone know that they have other options to where they can finish tarping and chaining down. I'm not opposed to helping another driver if I have the time either. We all need to work together.

Guess I just haven't been to those places yet. Generally I throw two chains and move out if there is a place, sometimes the only place is the bay, especially if its raining. Although if say, you wanted him to get out faster could help him chain and tarp. He could be new and not know what he's doing. And, I was teasing ;). I know what group you refer to. I like to take my time. Such as said I try to keep out of the way.
