I believe what Lucky is trying to point out here is that FEELTHEWHEEL could probably handle a truck better even while drinking than some of the drivers on the road that are sober. He probably didn't mean he was recommending it. He probably didn't go to trucking school and learn how to shift gears with a toilet plunger stuck to the floor next to his chair. Sometimes you have to read between the lines and not take everything as literal. As to why we've been regulated so much. Truckers won't stick together so the government just makes rules so they can have a job. (appointees make the rules up) (another example of read between the lines). Adding safety is only part of the objective and is really only a by product. Case in point. EOBR's will negate a lot of tickets for improper logs BUT the lawmakers that have interest of the manufacturers of the units can benefit big time. Can you follow me on this? Lucky isn't and outlaw and he's not a fool. People with a weak argument usually have to resort to name calling. That's just easier than thinking.FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this.

Again, you are another one of these guys with these horrible attitudes who have probably helped to ruin this industry more than help it. Are you kidding me? Drive a truck better while drinking than some of the other guys on the road? There are so many of you kinds of radical thinkers out there who say these types of things, that's why there is so many problems in this industry.
That kind of thinking and attitude leads to a "I'm getting my miles come hell or high water" attitude and then next thing you know there is an "accident", and maybe you kill a whole family. I've seen the guys who keep double sets of logs, and run 80-85, these are the types who would say the kinds of things you are saying. They are the ones ruining the industry.FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
LOL! I figured that would get you riled up. Let me put it another way. Who would you rather have driving a truck you owned? A driver with 34 yrs experience who had a DUI ? OR a driver who just got out of a driving school that has 1 yr of actual real world experience? Think about it now. It's your truck and your CSA score?
FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
I wonder how many companies and O/O hire drivers with recent DUI.Anyone here on the forum?
MaddogOTR and FEELTHEWHEEL Thank this. -
Prolly neither , because the driver with the DUI has already proven by his actions that he can't be trusted....and the newbie , well he just hasn't had time enough to learn........ but if forced into hiring one of the 2 , the newbie would get the nod from me...with some ride alongs of course. 72express you look at this different than I do , nothing wrong with that another poster on page 5 post # 83 RayT70 said that I hated the OP..."if" he would have taken the time to read all of my posts on this subject in this thread , and several others like like he would see that I've been pretty consistent with my opinion on truckers and DUI's/DWI's...drivers found guilty of doing it will not get any sympathy/forgiveness from me...BUT hate...that's sort of going over-board. 72express you have your view I have mine....we don't agree...no problem.Last edited: Oct 13, 2013

Wow - someone makes a mistake ONCE in their life and forever they "can't be trusted!"
I hope you practice what you preach and are perfect.gokiddogo Thanks this. -
{QUOTE RayT70} If Heaven forbid a drunk kills my family member I would work on forgiving him/her. Hating somebody who has done nothing to you is a waste of life. {QUOTE}
Got a challenge for ya here RayT70....go back on this thread , even go back on any thread that I've posted on this entire forum in my 1000+ posts and find 1 example , just 1 mind you of me saying that I hated anyone....go ahead....I'll wait.......FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
As a matter of fact there rook I do... I don't drink much at all....and after over 30 years of driving trucks...not a single accident/incident on my record...am I perfect no-sir , not by a long shot.....but after 3 million+ miles I got a decent idea of what to do and what not to do. Never made the claim of being perfect either , just had sense enough not to drink and drive..... That "mistake" as you and others like to call it , costs people there lives....many times over. That "mistake" my friend ruins any chance of a person being trusted with a CDL for me...if I'm wrong , I'll gladly take the heat from anybody...But ...I ain't wrong.......Choices my friend....not "mistakes"pattyj, FEELTHEWHEEL and MaddogOTR Thank this.
