If you have your own truck the lease you sign is pretty much like pampers
If you wana buy the truck from a trucking company then that depends on the company always ask the company you are trying to lease a truck from if their lease is a walk a way lease or not before you sign up.If I remember right KLLM has a walk away lease.But since they are joining FFE so they say I don't know much about them.

 

FFE also has a walkout clause. No harm no foul.

I think that it's a good primer for anyone considering moving from company driver to lease/purchase.

 

You should always read and fully understand any contract before signing on the dotted line. If you are uncertain as to whether you can live with the terms of the contract until the end, then walk away and don't sign anything.

 

May also have to do with the state you are in and what kind of company it is. Shady companies like to find ways to stick it to you if you leave. I don't recall anything in my contract that prevents me from making a call to the headquarters, dropping off any equipment of theirs I may possess and setting sail for the horizon so to speak. However I own my equipment, register and plate it myself. I can't speak for those folks that are leasing a truck from a company providing them with freight.

 

I did just that at JCT. Last year I decided to take some time off and look for a local job. I gave two weeks notice and got routed back to Sapulpa to turn in the truck. It went just like turning in a company truck except that within 45 days, I got the remainder of my maintenance account back. Out of ~$4,000 they withheld around $400 for an oil change that was overdue and to detail the truck. No monkey business chiseling me down with unnecessary service. When I decided to come back OTR, my decision to go back to JCT was easy!

 

yes kllm bought ffr and yes kllm is a walk away lease from what i hear.

 

I can vouch for this, when I left JCT to go home for family health reasons, I got the entire maintenance account back, they didn't take one dime out for anything, they truly are a great company if your looking for a truck to sometime own, But remember this if you do decide to go there, ITs your truck, But because it is a walk-away lease, you wont be able to do anything and everything to the truck until you pay it off, reason for this is, If you want to walk away, they need to re-lease it to another driver
