i've never been under it so i don't know for sure. streetview shows ave v with a sign for 12'4' with a vacuum truck barely fitting underneath where they're doing construction. one block north at ave. t the sign shows as 12'0''. somehow i have to believe that it's real. i seriously doubt they dug out the road and didn't replace the signs.

either way i wouldn't want to send someone who's nervous that way unless i knew for sure.

I made out just fine with all the helpful tips. Truth be told I actually enjoyed it ! lol, I guess I'm not right in the head. Here's a pic I snapped from 278 near Prospect Expwy.

right now I'm parked by Bennett Field, it's a USMC reserve unit. I'm looking across the bay with a nice view of Rockaway Park. Not sure if I'm gonna stay here until I find my next load or deadhead out tonight when the traffic dies down.

NY posts heights from the center of the axle, not from the bottom of the tire. So, their heights are always off. Has nothing to do with recent construction, etc. A 12'2 yellow sign should clear a 13'6 truck. However, if NY has a white sign, that's 'actual clearance', and not to be messed with. And usually, the white (or green) signs that post a height are actual and usually state "ACTUAL CLEARANCE". Which is stupid. But, that's NY.

that's crazy ! center of axle depends on the size of tire ! lol, oh well. I'm still here, got a load to pick up on Staten Island in the morning. But I just ordered real Brooklyn pizza for delivery, hope it's as good as everyone says ! I think I might run that Fort Hamilton Pkwy going over to Staten Island. i.e.- Flatbush to Caton to Fort Hamilton Pkwy to 278. prolly head over there early, looks like there might be a place to park by a ball diamond near where I'm loading.
