Those are materials that are only about a year old. I'm sure there are plenty of instructors who aren't aware of them if they attended the instructor course before they were produced.
Kudos to you for finally opening your student training book and reading it. It's only been what? 2 weeks since orientation started.silenteagle, rcd127, ironpony and 2 others Thank this. -
Didn't realize this was a self-study course... keep making those excuses for the instructors buddy!
-
Yup... you're actually expected to put some individual effort into it. Just the same as you would at that $4000 CDL mill.
FLATBED Thanks this. -
Maybe just me, but would think you would want to take in as much information as possible. I read all those packets the day I received them and multiple more times throughout PSD phase.
You seem to have this idea that everything should be handed to you. You are looking at a career, this is not a vacation or something of that sort. You should be taking this seriously. If their was a problem, it should have been addressed immediately whether with your instructor or a higher up. You are told multiple times throughout orientation that if you feel a problem, to address it. Multiple times throughout this thread people have said to just request a new instructor, Prime will get you a new one without fail. Yet, you seem to continue to stay where you are and then complain about the lack of training. If you can't take control of your own career, you will not succeed in trucking. -
Take control of my career by, say, studying videos and reading web forums to teach myself what my trainer can't seem to teach me? Yea actually if you'd read my posts That's exactly what I've been doing and apparently have done a good enough job that we are already talking about going back to Springfield in a week or so. Don't tell me I'm not taking control of my situation.
I have No preconceived notion that things need to be handed to me, would you care to explained that ridiculous comment? I hardly think expecting my trainer, who is being paid to train me, to ACTUALLY train me is asking a lot. Putting the truck in reverse twice in 10 days doesn't seem to fit the bill of training me for my CDL though... apparently I am going to become am expert backer in two days of practice back in Springfield though... which leaves me wondering why I had to go on the road in the first place? To learn how to steer between the white lines for three weeks? Because that is 90% of my training. Done while my trainer is sleeping or playing on his phone.
Blame me for the bad trainers if it makes you feel better though... clearly it is my responsibility to make sure I am trained properly and not at all the responsibility of the company who claims on our contract that they were going to be taking that responsibility... silly me lol -
Are you honestly suggesting I haven't? Would I be posting any of this if I didn't care about my training? You seem smarter than this man...
-
Yes, you do have pre conceived notions. That's your bread and butter complaint here... "I expected this, I assumed, " etc... If you don't think you'll get to be in "expert backer" with just 2 days on the pad, you had a preconceived notion it would happen on the road.
If you don't like the instruction, just ask for another instructor. I don't know why you ignore this. Is it that the more people who say ask for a new instructor, the more you are convinced you know better. You got a Jesus complex or something... I think you have a preconceived notion that we will all sympathize with you every time you climb up on your cross to complain. But you can only ignore these peoples advice to get a new instructor before sympathy
becomes contempt.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but you are not gonna be satisfied with TNT training. There is zero chance your TNT trainer will be able to teach you everything you will need to know to do your job. It's an impossibility.
This job offers a lot of independence and it's up to the driver to get the job done with little supervision from Prime. Even a company driver. The Driver carries a lot of responsibility and the ability to take initiative. If you can't take initative, you are gonna waste a lot of time on the phone, on hold.
On time for appointments, no accidents, no citations, good fuel mileage, and a productive driver is all they ask for.
No one is along to inspect your truck daily for you (inspection violations, your fault for not catching them) no one is along to make sure you don't take to long on a break or set your alarm (late for an appt, your fault) no one is along to drive the truck (traffic violation, your fault)
prime is there to support operations of the trucks, all aspects. If you don't give them a reason to supervise or micromanage you, they won't.FLATBED and silenteagle Thank this. -
The guy you're with now is NOT a trainer! He is a CDL instructor. His one and only job is to provide you with the necessary experience to get past the practical CDL driving test.
-
Anyway.. this is getting pretty ridiculous. So y'all continue to think that this is the best training program available and I will continue to have my own thoughts. Peace.
