Werner did buy hoods for years. It gave me a hobby. I would try to find a Werner that wasn't damaged in some way.

Example: I was in a service plaza in WV. I saw a shiny new Pete 379 (Werner). It was so new it didn't have a tag. The cab extender on one side was folded against the back of the cab. The cab extender on the other side was bent in so far the back of the sleeper was dented in a few inches. There was other damage. Maybe one fender . One of the steps. Funny thing, I think the bumper was straight. I looked at the driver. He had kind of a guilty, embarrassed look on his face.
Putting inexperienced drivers in hoods would get expensive.

I bought a new truck ten years ago ( a 379 ). I put it in the Atlanta Pete body shop to get a roof fairing installed.
There were several trucks in the shop. 4-5 of 'em were Werner trucks getting major work. They were repairing the whole side of one. That's one reason fleets don't buy hoods.

Hey now I'm a rookie. Inexperienced and learned on a hood. Ain't wrecked one yet knock on wood. So it doesn't always get expensive putting rookies in them. Then again I know I ain't got the money to fix it if it gets wrecked. So that may have something to do with it as well. But not all inexperienced drivers can't drive a hood without tearing it up.

You make a valid point. Now quit trying to bring reason into my argument.

Lets look at it another way. The life expectancy of a truck driver is 61 years. I am 47. The end is near. I would like to spend my twilight years looking out across my big hood.

And blowin' your doors off should I be in the mood.

I, of couse, was not speaking of drivers of your caliber. I was speaking of the average rookie.

If someone had put me in a hood as a new driver, I think I would have probably torn it up.

    I progressed slowly.
    Setback axle cabover.
    Set forward axle cabover.
Short wheelbase conventional and so on.

Furthermore, 379exhd, you da man.....and you can quote me on that.

On the other hand, I didn't tear anything up until I had been driving 3 years...........

So having an aero truck gets you better rates than someone with a non-aero truck? Could you please explain this for me, because I have come to the conclusion that you are now grasping for straws.

And don't dodge the question with higher profits, I get that. But also realize that there are several of us on here that what we do the aerodynamics of a truck will not change our fuel mileage any significant amount.
