I talked to Midwestern in the early 80's, when I was fresh out of school. The guy running the orientation said he held the record for paying one off. 22 months.

We used to call them " 76 SUPPER CLUBS". Big orange ball in the sky.

Caught a little of Art Bell on Sirius the other night, he's back in Pahrump area, said he lived in Philipines for 4 yrs then came back.

We lost another overnight host back in July, Rick Barber who did the overnights on 850 KOA from Denver for more than 30 yrs passed away. He used to joke about competing with Art Bell. While he never specifically set out to real in the trucker audience like Bozo, Steve or Midnight truckin', he did have a massive following and really enjoyed talking to us drivers. His show was informative, and had interesting and odd ball guests, but you learned something from his guests. He was forced to retire a year ago when Clear Channel did a shake up.

I sure do but Sam Tanksley never had anything as nice or run like Carolina-Western, Sam had Petes but were pretty plain. Thanks for reminded me tho, I had forgotten about Sam.

No pictures I can find, but Carl Buddig meats used to run some of the finest Pete cabovers on the road, burgundy colored, coupled to a stainless steel reefer.
