I just started with them last week. I was with Halliburton for two years. So far I like what I see, but I don't go into the field until next week. They seem like a pretty good company so far and everyone I've talked with seems very happy.

They called me a couple weeks ago about a frac position. I applied with them last summer for a different position but my app seems to be circulating among the recruiters for various positions because they've called me a couple times now for different jobs. Anyhow, I didn't want the frac job but was curious about it anyway and set up a phone interview. They wanted someone local to Midland/Odessa and wanted me to be on-call 24-7 with no set schedule and no guaranteed time off. I was surprised because I was under the impression that most frac crews were on a set rotation, but that wasn't the case for this particular position.

they prolly just wanted a "just in case" person.....

nice!! keep us/me updated man!!! from what i heard from a dude who is a cementing supervisor, they dont allow u to work more than 14 hours..that true???
-
No more than 14 hours driving time. You can work as many hours as you want doing something that's not driving.
-
well yeah that i understand.....just got told by someone that works in the cementing dept that they have a hiring freeze until january...
-
Hey frachand hows it been goin?
-
It's going pretty good. Everything is about the same as with Halliburton, except I'm making more money per hour. So far I'm glad I made the change. I moved to a bigger city, so I'm not living in the middle of nowhere anymore, which makes my wife very happy. About the hiring freeze. I had heard the same thing, but then they said they lifted it. Baker is still hiring in Yukon OK and Perryton TX for sure. I was also told they are willing to hire guys with no CDL. They will have to work a few months with out the cdl and if they work out Baker will send them to driving school to get their license. I don't know which locations are willing to do that though. Maybe only Yukon.

They just shut down the Columbia, MS yard.
