    I just want to throw some stuff out there for the new women drivers or the ones thinking of being a driver. I have read alot of posts about how women are treated and i know i am still new at this myself but my expeirence has been great. I have never been treated poorly by other drivers,trainers or anyone in the shipping/recieving offices. Of course there have been lots of male drivers get on the CB and say things but if you have a good attitude and dont get offended easily you will be fine. There are more women drivers out there than you think, alot of them just choose to lay low for their own personal reasons. Driving has been alot of fun for me. I have met alot of.....interesting people to say the least but overall it has been a wise carreer choice for me. Dont let anyone scare you away from doing something you really want to do.

    Most women drivers are treated with respect out here. There are the occasional morons out here, but you have to take all that with a grain of salt. Leann brings up a lot of good points.

    There are difficult people & situations in all aspects of life - trucking isn't any different, except it has truly exceptional benefits!

    The trucking industry reminds me of.... rock climbing. I got into climbing in the '70's and also got my first experience trucking in the '70's. At that time it was rare to see any women either at the cliff or in the trucks, and if you did see them they weren't climbing or trucking, but merely watching or being a passenger.

    Fast forward to the '90's and in climbing it was a rare day to go to the cliff and not see an all woman team of climbers on some of the hardest routes. Fast forward to today and in my reentry to trucking I'm pleased to see that there are a fair amount of women behind the wheel, both solo and team, and I'm also pleased to see so many minorities in the business.

    I'll give respect and honor to any professional driver on the road.

    Regarding the CB thing, I think it's like a rat in a cage. They're vicious if they are safely behind bars and in their little cage, but when you open the door they're tame and cute. In trucking I call this "CB courage". All bark, no bite, and downright meek if you see them eye to eye.

    Hate to be a Debbie Downer,but it's just not true. As long as you are "able" to play the game,then it's a respect that you've come to "accept". If you are your OWN person and do things YOUR way, TRUE respect WILL follow....The initial "respect" is a fasaud to say the least. However, once you reach that point,you'll have some of the best friends FOREVER! And it's a true respect and true friendship.

    Ugh...Most annoying thing ever going down the road. "Hey sweet voice you sound mighty purty" Driver shut the #### up before I have to smack you senseless.

    I wonder how many males are going to go out and buy a set of heels, and a wig after reading "I have never been treated poorly by other drivers, trainers, or anyone in the shipping/recieving offices":biggrin_2559: It might be worth cross dressing for some drivers.

    Most at drivers find it hard to believe I got out of a 10 mph over ticket in Ohio!!

    Yes that is true...but its true for males and females both in every industry. Im just sayin that being a woman in trucking is not as bad or scary as people say. When i first went to school to get my CDL i was very scared going into a mostly male industry. I was affraid i wouldnt be treated as an equal or treated like a piece of meat...but the truth is that i have had alot of help and good advice from men and women truckers that i have met.
