I've never been in your shoes. However, one thing my father has installed in me is to seek out all employers. I know life can suck without your wife and kids, but as someone once told me, your job is too make your kids life easier than your childhood was. Hopefully once you get some money in the bank, you can afford a I-pad with Skype or some means to communicate with your family. I know it will hard at first, but your kid will thank you for everything later on. I do agree with the poster of keeping a photo with your kids on the dash. Update that photo and ask your wife to get you a scrap book with the photos she collects. I think that would make downtime that much easier.

What I see here is A loving and devoted husband and father that doesn't want to be apart from family for very long.So how about finding a dedicated or regional job.Expalin your situation to your recruiterYou'll still have to be apart from them but home on the weekends..

 

This industry is full of ppl that don't care and even try to understand.You have have to weed em out from the good drivers.

 

And those ones that don't care get schooled good, and don't even realize it because they are so self important!

 

You got that right.One thing that won't leave me because I drive trk is the sensitivity and compassion towards others.

Well it was a good thread, lets see if we can keep it on track here.

Many years ago i picked the ''road'' and the ''truck''...With every single decision in life there is a consequence.

I made out very well in trucking for myself.I have no financial worries,i own a beautiful home,i have atv,sleds,pick up trucks and my harley davidson.I earned a wonderful bank role and savings account.I seen the country from a window many times over..I have alot of things that i would of never had in LIFE,if it was not for the trucking business.

One thing that SUFFERED the most in my 29 years of trucking was RELATIONSHIPS..I always said that trucking is a single persons game.It wrecks hell on the family...

Once i made the decision to go be a truck driver,i started to loose alot of friendships,romances and family ties..I was gone so much in the beginning i lost touch slowly with where i came from...I had no idea at the time this was happening.I may have been blinded by GREED and WORKAHOLISM.

As the years went by i woke up one day in the truck and had a moment of CLARITY.I was all alone and DISCONNECTED from every single peice of life i have ever loved..

This is when i had another ''CHOICE'' and another ''DECISION'' had to made...This time i chose the home life and to re-connect with my past life before trucking..I decided to,GO HOME.!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been 2 years since i gave up the whole Mello-Drama of being gone all over the Country and Canada..All i can share is i wish i did this sooner...I enjoy my home life...

But Wait.Is not the things i accomplished in my life TODAY,due to the FACT i killed myself on the road for those years and Sacrificed so so much...So you see this is a DAMMED IF YOU DO DAMMED IF YOU DON'T.I do not have the answers on this one...

Last but not least i have always struggled with my LOVED ONES at home and the responsabilities at the house and being a truck driver on the road all alone and disconnected from my life.

I got yelled at yesterday because i want to make 3,000 bucks on a 1.5 day round trip..This would be friday and saturday..No biggie,right.??...Well i was invited to a going away party and i will never hear the end of this one...See,it's still happening 29 years later...I can't please everyone,everyday..

As the balance for Love,Romance,Family,Friends AND Money continue.Good Luck Kid and i hope you make the right choices that you can live with....
