Did you even read those links? Those links clearly reference the 10,000 miles you are. You are basing the entire argument on your perception and understanding and not on documentation from reputable sources. It is one thing to base your argument on what you experience and what is considered standard throughout the spectrum. Oh well. I gave you and everyone else enough to chew on for a while, but you choose to ignore it. I have no dog in this hunt, so carry on. Worry to your heart's content.

well lets re-visit this topic, just got the results back from my latest oil sample

    oil sample.jpg

i had a new air filter installed at my last oil change 7400 miles before this sample. i do run a lot of dirt roads but this is way worse than my last sample when i had double the millage on the air filter

Sounds like it's just the amount of dirt getting into the oil that's the concern. Could it just be from working in the dust all the time or do you think it's a more serious problem? Can you get a higher micron air filter for the truck? Do you blow the filter out daily? That can sometimes damage the filter and allow more dirt in. Maybe try a washable filter like K and N, would be a chore but you could try washing it every day then sample again at the same interval and see if it helped. Does your air filter housing have any way that air could be getting into the intake without going through the filter? Like a crack in the housing or in the intake tubing downstream from the filter but before the turbo or loose clamp etc?

my first thought is mabye the filter gasket didn't seal up properly against the filter housing. or possibly different brands of filters. i wan't to say the one that was on for this last sample was a napa filter don't remember what was on prior.

i don't blow out my filters for the risk of putting holes in them, just put them in and leave them alone till the next change

I would guess that the seal/gasket on the aircleaner is suspect. (first place to start looking) and I would carefully examine the entire intake, CAC, all clamps, boots, everything... This engine is sucking dirt in from somewhere...

my water pump went out yesterday changed it out myself today and took the intake apart to make room. all the seals on the intake piping to the turbo looked good. i had a new air filter installed at my last oil change (i do air filters at every oil change and change oil at or around 7500 miles) i ordered some oil sample test kits and plan to draw a oil sample myself half way threw this oil change and see how things are looking

Once you start pulling your own samples and using a lab that only does oil analysis you'll never go back to letting someone else do it, who also does oil changes, just my opinion. I'm thinking the dirt got in past the air filter housing seal/gasket. I don't use the Luberfiner air filters cause I don't like the gaskets they supply with them, I do like the Fleetguard gaskets, and the price isn't bad on the Fleetguard product, so I use Fleetguard... Is the Napa filter a change from the previous air filters you've used? Did it seem like the Napa gasket might not seal well when you installed the air filter?

i believe i have a lubrifiner air filter in the truck now. the shop that i use for about 3/4's of my oil changes normally uses lubrifiner filters. i had them install the air filter at the oil change, the one previous i installed myself a couple days before the last oil change and was a napa filter. its not the first time iv used napa or lubrifiner filters. im going to start making notes on my oil samples of what filters i had installed at the time of the samples and see if i can draw any kind of conclusion to if one filter is superior over another.

Yesterday i got this on a truck Prostar 09 isx435st with 543k miles w APU. I read all comments and instructions everything seems to me normal. I am waiting on the Dyno test monday and few more check ups before buying it.
guys if you see something wrong let me know. The oil filters look old n dirty, the drain too. Dealer swears that they did not touch anything on this truck as they got it. I feel like the oil sample is right after oil change, i dunno :/
