Probably need to take your corners a little slower. They will break loose a bit sooner than duals, but the loss of traction into sliding is much smoother. As far as snow is concerned, they do fine.

thanks, i figured as much for snow. i got a question for the test, since we will be empty, can we skip shift or start in higher gear or do we need to go through them all?

They want to see you double clutch and go through all gears is what my trainer told me.
Just granny drive it like you have a load as smoothly as possible (do not touch curbs at all & do practice progressive shifting) and you can float & skip when you get your own.

    Lightweight cascadia

1rst - crawler gear, only if loaded starting on nasty hill, its more of a pita to get to 2nd smoothly than anything else

2nd - normal start when loaded over 30k lbs

3rd - normal start when loaded under 30k lbs

4th - normal start when hooked to empty trailer

5th - normal start when bobtail

All these are conditional to conditions and terrain

    RPMs

From 1rst to 8th should shift under 1k rpms starting at about 700 for 1st & going up about 50rpm for each sequential gear.

For 8th to 9th when loaded should be 1200-1250rpm & 9th to 10th should be 1250-1300 because of the ratio severity and wind resistance.

If you are in a full size cascadia you have more forgiveness with rpms because of the extra torque of the 15l

The instructions in our binder say we can skip shift when appropriate.. at least downshifting.

Do you have to run super singles on your truck or can you ask them to swap for dual wheels in the back? It just seems like it would be more time efficent to have dual tires changed cause its more of a common size tire, then a super single tires. You guys arent worried about the hydroplane effect with a really wide tire instead of two skinnier tires. Same question goes for snow driving and cutting thru the snow for better traction with skinnir tires?

i see the hydro planing part. but if i think about it wouldnt grater surface area (ss) be better in snow? more surface area=more traction.
