    The problem with research, is we want to hear what we want to hear.

    It's too easy to write off negative posts as 'disgruntled' when mega web sites, shills, bottom-feeder-touters and recruiters make things seem so appealing. CR's web site, in particular, is darn good. And informative. But it's carefully crafted to be informative about what CR wants newbies to know.

    The only drivers immune from these siren calls are those with jobs. When we're not working, we revert to newbie vulnerability.

    Hey! Maybe 'XYZ' isn't so bad after all! Nah, nah, nah.

    Back in early 2008 I would check in a lot of the England local drivers at the Coca Cola warehouse I worked at and they all seemed happy. I actually became good friends with one of them and he was my FLEX trainer (I do not think they have that program anymore). I ran into him right before I quit about 9 months ago and he was looking for another job. He said that the Coke fleet was flooded with new drivers and his pay dropped about $500 gross a week.

    Now the way CRE got me to lease was I was at the SLC facility waiting for a company position to open up. Back then if you went to there lease presentation you would get a food voucher and I was so broke that I needed it. So after about a week of waiting for a company truck the guy from Horizon said that there was a $500 sign on bonus. If I leased a truck they would give me $250 that day then $250 on my first settlement. I was reluctant but he handed me the keys to a 2007 Century (this was back in late 2008 ) and told me to check it out.

    So I did and I came back and asked how do I get started. That truck had a lot of issues that I did not even realize since I was a newbie. The EGR valve was clogged and a lot of other issues. But I still own that bad boy today and running it with Landstar.

    It definitely feels like my truck now since I am with Landstar but not when I had it payed off with England. Forced dispatch and denial of home time. There were times to when I ran hard for a week and would be running short on hours so I would request a 34 hour restart. That would be denied and I would be forced to do local work for a day or two to gain back hours.

    Just a side note. When I quit England they were hiring a lot of company drivers. My last 6 students all got company positions and they said they never sat through a lease presentation. I think it had something to do with that class action lawsuit. Not the one from 2001 but the other one pertaining to the dedicated fleets and IC's.

    My husband graduated from HS. When we lived in MS he was a firefighter. When we came here none of the houses had any openings and the wait was just too long, otherwise he'd still be doing that.

    You can't really blame anyone for their assumptions. Your husband did pick the absolute worst trucking company to work for. With no criminal record he could have done so much better. The positive is he'll be done with his lease in 3 months and he can put England behind him.

    Has your husband been looking for other companies?If so does he have any good leads? When a company doesn't have their standards set too high on who they hire you should keep looking and do your homework before any company.Don't fall for what recruiters say.They say anything to make it sound good.Their job is to hire as many suckers as they can because that's what they get paid to do.Best advice you'll ever get is from drivers that has drove for that company.They know the real deal not a recruiter.

    He picked the one that had an opening and could get him there immediately. We didn't have a lot of time in the process otherwise I'm pretty sure he would have gone somewhere else. Which I've stated before.
