So last night my truck wouldn't start, low/no pressure to the injectors. So a wrecker comes and gets me to tow my rig to freightliner. Not a mile down the road a local cop pulls us over and proceeds to tell us he's shutting us down for being overlength in the state of AR without a permit. Max length of a rig in AR is 53'. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing out loud at the cop. A call to the state police then his supervisor straightened him out.
wrecker towing my truck pulled over for overlength?

What part of AR? Where did you get your truck towed to?

In some states they are not allowed to pull the truck and trailer together, unless it is creating a danger to traffic. Maybe this cop relocated from somewhere like that and didn't know any better.

Can't cross state lines, well that went out the window the first time my FLD with N-14 sprouted a gusher, got towed from TN to Corbin, KY as a unit.
They won't cross from IL to WI though, have to unhook. Probably can't tow a trailer hooked to a tractor while hauling Hazardous, but it would be interesting to read the reg.
That was wrong on so many counts, though, I bet the LEO is still blushing after the dress down he should have gotten. -
That's hilarious putting a cop in his place. So what did the cop say after talking with supervisor?

Got stopped once in Maine for "passing while road had double-lines" on a backroad (car in front doing like 10mph with hazards on). Told the local cop (who looked like was not even legal to drive) why I did that...looked at my license and sees I live in Maine and he says "well you should know better and need give you the ticket"...so I politely explain "ok but will be fighting it and I know I will win and really dont think you want this to go to court" and had to let him know that Maine does not have a "crossing double-lines" law unless it is posted...he goes back to car, comes back in like 5-10min and tells me I am "free to go and be safe"...you know he checked it out and was told I was right...dang rookies...
Mike in maine Thanks this.
