I know the good companies you need a solid driving record and solid employment but I need advice on my BIG problem. I have a 2012 Peterbilt with 242350 miles im a newbie got off trainer truck 2 weeks ago and I don't feel safe to drive I got the truck 3 days ago went to pick up a load 78520 gross wieght on a cat scale drivers 33440 trailer 33700 pulling paper from Indiana to walden ny going across 80 ( training I had around same wieght little over little under) all hell broke loose it started to sway from side to side at the same time bouncing and pulling hard against the trailer and bouncing back( trailer hitting back of tractor) st the same time. No it wasn't bad road or construction. Tow truck guy moved the truck and felt what I felt. find out to day the guy had the same issues guess what they did they have put in brand brand new suspension parts on the drives new tires. New shocks, airbags on the whole tractor even underneath cab new cross members leaf spring leaf leaf spring hanger. and i had that experience. They told me they took it on a road test bob tailing and empty and it didn't do nothing they also inspected the trailer and tow truck guy said nothing was wrong with it when he pulled it try pulling another trailer should I? I really don't feel safe in it.
PS
IM looking for the owner operation who thought it was funny hitting my triangles to get my wood with metal nails sticking up back you jerk!!!! Hope you like the flat tire JERK

Sounds like you bought a lemon.....did you have to pay for those repairs....had to be costly...but if they rebuilt the rear suspension like you said they did , then you are OK......any problems and the shop where you had the repair done should warranty their work and parts .
-
No they paid for it all work was done before I got the truck
-
The repairs were done before you got the truck? You found out there was a problem after trying to pull a load with the truck? Which happened 1st......
-
sounds like you are pulling a tanker
-
Almost does. Dontaehill what do you mean by the trailer hit the back of the tractor?
-
The trailer was up too high when he pulled under to hook the 5th wheel?
-
you stated that you were hauling paper. was it cut and on pallets or rolls? if rolls were they secure? if rolls are loaded "to roll" and aren't blocked right especially in the nose they can bang around and feel nasty even if they are only rolling a few inches. if they are loaded "tall" meaning standing on end and aren't spaced and blocked properly they can slide side to side. that would also give you that side to side motion you describe especially if you are on a rough road.
-
otter if i may call you otter? if he was high hooked with that much weight he would have lost it long before he got out onto 80. i thought maybe the 5th wheel wasn't locked, but then discounted that too. i figure with that much weight he would have broken the stops.
otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Sure thing...call me Otter...even the wife does!! ( when I'm not on that "bad-boy" list...then it isn't printable!)

I was only joking ... but ... how else does the front of the trailer hit the back of the tractor? Maybe the 5th wheel wasn't locked in and slid forward in like a hard brake situation?
I agree with your previous post...carried my share of paper rolls, both upright and on their side....doesn't take much movement at all to feel like they are sliding around if not blocked in correctly!
