I've had no problem getting home with TMC. Pay is good, equipment is good, promises are kept.. At least in my personal experience. I'd recommend this company [TMC] to a friend, so I'll recommend it to a stranger too ;)

I have a VERY important question if anyone knows - do either of these companies hire women drivers? I know they say they are "equal opportunity employers," but does anyone know if TMC or McElroy actually have 1 female driver? I called my area McElroy recruiter to ask and she continued to evade the question until she finally said that she didn't know. I have watched the training video and honestly believe I can qualify on the strength tests, but someone in another post said that all women were cut during their training program. So before I totally have my heart set on flatbeds and spend two months doing strength training, go through 3 weeks of their training just to be summarily turned down, I'd like to know if either company actually has even 1 woman driver. Thanks all!!!

I've heard of female TMC drivers, but heard they're pretty rare. The strength required to lift the heavier tarps is certainly not unreasonable for a woman, but it wouldn't be easy for most. Heck, it wasn't easy for the guys in my orientation. I can't imagine they'd turn you down solely due to gender. Realistically, you could be held up to closer scrutiny, but that's probably unavoidable given your desired area of our field is almost exclusively male. Give them a call, the worst that can happen is you get turned down, or the runaround again.

I have researched both companies pretty extensively as I plan to start driving in Apr/May 14 time frame. I live in Louisiana so McElroy home time was a better fit as previously stated that the south region is an area TMC can't guarantee the 48 of 52 weekends home. But I did love the VA Apprentice program that they offer. So if anyone is a Veteran out of the Army within last three years, it would certainly be worth considering. Personally I just like the Southeast Region concept and hometime that I have heard many drivers for McElroy confirm. Just my two cents for anyone that may benefit from it. On a side note, was happy to see an increase in pay for mileage and first six weeks of training with McElroy starting this month.

I live in Blue Ridge, GA. I am a 33 year old. I have a wife and 2 pre-teen kids. I drive for Maverick Transportation out of little rock. I just can't say enough good things about this company. They are mainly a flatbed company and they will train you up. You don't need to know anything about securing or tarping because they train you. Their training is amazing by the way. Hands on and classroom. You will learn how to secure everything from coils to lumber.

I believe you get 450 the week of orientation. After that you get 500 a week training. This is securement training and time with a trainer on a truck if needed. From then on...you are rolling brother. They start you at .33 CPM I think but after 6 month you go up to .42. Also have to add on the performance bonus which is an additional 6 CPM (and its a easy goal to hit). You are talking about 50cpm or close to it at the 6 month mark. They also have nearly a thousand dollar sign on bonus.

I've been with them 5 months and I pull a flatbed. I can honestly say that I have never been lied to by anyone from maverick including my recruiter and dispatcher. I can honestly say that I have never brought home a check that was below 800 dollars net after insurance and everything. I can honestly say that this company takes care of their drivers and equipment. Most drivers get home every weekend. Personally I'm in long haul so I get home every other weekend but sometimes I'm close enough to take my 34 reset at home anyway. They have yet to miss getting me home. Within 15 minutes of sending in my empty macro, I have my next assignment.

This is all ######## free too. I am a driver for maverick, not a recruiter or anything. I wish I had known about this company sooner.

Feel free to call and ask for Jeff Bone. He was my recruiter and you can take what he says for truth because even though it may sound too good to be true, I've never been lied to. Give them my name if you don't mind because I get a little referral bonus as well. My name is Chris Yohn. Truck number 11093. If you have any questions, email me at cyay918@gmail.com. I only check this site once every few days so email is the best way to reach me. Best of luck to you man and maybe I'll see you in a maroon cascadia soon!

They claim you get 2200-2400 miles a week.
