Got a Star with a 515 S60 in it.
Has DPF and EGR, and I would prefer to keep it, to run Ca if need be. Not to mention it is still under warranty (51k miles). Truck is a 2009, but was never registered until I bought it in June of this year, so full factory warranty.
Going to keep an eye out for a 18918a tranny, to replace teh 16913aa that is in here now.
I can then turn the torque up to 1850, and maybe a few more HP too.
It's acting weird right now, sometimes it will go to @40psi of boost in all gears besides the top two (12th 13th). Other times it wont go past @32psi. When it doesn't, it will "chug" at around 1300rpms and below. When it gives the 40psi, it runs strong. Turbo speed sensor and boost sensor just replaced this weekend under warranty, no difference. Thinking something in that tricky VVG turbo? No cac pipe leaks etc.
What are my options to keep it CARB legal, and maybe get some more out of the motor? Or at least appear legal anyways...
Any ideas on the boost issue?
Cheers
Martin

delta p sensor common offender in pre-dpf models. not sure if they changed much. the tubes that go to egr cooler also can clog.

Thanks!
I need somewhere to start, or more accurately tell Detroit where to start. Got a feeling it will be going on the dyno and may have to go from there. Obviously I dont want to pay them to try to find a problem, so would much rather get a starting point from the god folks on here.

With only 51,000 miles they can clog up that quick?
-
Kinda my thoughts too.
On a side note, is it super easy to set it to 1850tq when I get a tranny that can handle that?

I would think that its just a setting in the ecm, that's how it is on my cat, 15-20 minutes was all it took.

I figured as much Jason. Want to see how it does when the boost is all figured out first though I guess. It must be something hanging up that is electrical. I sprayed around the cac hoses etc today to see if it jumped, no difference at all, although with it coming and going it doesn't strike me as being anything like that

With a lot of idling they (EGR/DPF) clog up quick, a 4-5 year old truck with only 51,000? That's a lot of idling, or worse yet sitting doing nothing, that will kill a vehicle quicker than anything.

Truck was brand new, never registered when I bought it in June of this year. Had 1600 miles on it, from driving it from the factory in Portland, to a dealer in Mt, then back to Wa. So no idle time to speak of. I also have a generator and rooftop ac, so no idle time during my ownership, besides warming up, cooling down, and loading/unloading. So I seriously doubt it would be anything to do with idling the engine.

if you are swapping tranny im sure you could get it turned up with current tranny but you would have to sign a waiver i did that with my cat and put on 1 millon on top of the 300.000 miles it already had . its still going 3 years later
