What's the fuel mileage on a 3408DI cat? Every time I look for it pops up stuff about cars or does give a number.

Fuel mi and 3408 should not be used in the same sentence. One guy I talked to claimed 6 on a good day, most will tell you 4.5-5. Then you have to consider the added weight of a 3408 vs 3406.

I have one in a truck real similar to what I drive every day. 4 would be a fair number. My uncle ran one for years in the late 70's and early 80's he said his had no trouble getting 3.3 if you crowded it much

Finding some one who knows the combination and the cost may b a factor.

Back in the day I was lucky to get 4. Usually got about 3.5 with it hooked to a 5X4 and 363 rears pulling produce.
We didn't care about fuel in those days and it would pull a hill like it was flat ground.

Good luck with it.....if you have an application where you need that kind of power you might consider a 3406B...better fuel mileage, lighter and easier to work on when the time comes.
