Fuel mi and 3408 should not be used in the same sentence. One guy I talked to claimed 6 on a good day, most will tell you 4.5-5. Then you have to consider the added weight of a 3408 vs 3406.

I have one in a truck real similar to what I drive every day. 4 would be a fair number. My uncle ran one for years in the late 70's and early 80's he said his had no trouble getting 3.3 if you crowded it much
-
I was jw cause some say you can get a lot with the right stuff and others say you can't get hardly any
-
Finding some one who knows the combination and the cost may b a factor.

Back in the day I was lucky to get 4. Usually got about 3.5 with it hooked to a 5X4 and 363 rears pulling produce.
We didn't care about fuel in those days and it would pull a hill like it was flat ground.
Good luck with it.....if you have an application where you need that kind of power you might consider a 3406B...better fuel mileage, lighter and easier to work on when the time comes. -
3408di the more it sounds like a pop corn cooker the less mi. it gets, 4 mpg. loaded light [77 coe kw 5/4 3>90s)
