Im about to leave tonight for USX orientation. I think in going to do NE regional for them. I know in the NE it snows a lot. How bad are the moutains in the NE region? whats the driving like? Im a little nervous since im a beginner and entering trucking right around winter. If i feel uncomfortable driving while its snowing like crazy can i pull over or will my dispatcher get mad at me and screw me over?

Nervous is good. Snow is easy, ice and freezing rain are the enemy. Do you know what their policy is regarding shutting down?

    JakeBrakeRem Thanks this.

Well don't get yourself in a situation you can't handle. Sometimes that means telling people what they don't want to hear. YOU are ultimately responsible. Be safe!!

Driver, In bad conditions always stay well inside YOUR comfort level....remember that for AS LONG as you are a driver. Never ever let another driver , a dispatcher , a fleet manager (as they're called nowadays) , a boss or ANYBODY tell you any different. Remember "if" you make the call to keep moving in bad conditions it's on you....those folks will throw you UNDER the bus once you are involved in an accident.... There is no load , going no where , worth risking your life over...let them threaten to or even fire you...no job is worth dying for....or killing what may be an innocent family or kid , remember we all have family using the same highways as you....experience will come..it just takes time....always think that way , if YOU don't feel safe , get off the road in as safe a way as is possible...let all of the "concrete cowboys" have at it.

Oh you guys are so wrong!!!!

If that load doesn't get there....ON SCHEDULE.....the plant will shut down, all the employees will have to go on food stamps and Obamacare, the town will collapse, the county will be severly damaged, and the state will ... will.......MOVE TO CANADA!

    HEH HEH...I'd make such a great dispatcher!!!!:biggrin_2552:
