i have 7 of these trucks (prostar , isx ,2009 ).Got them 9 months ago. Before i read this tread and found the dash code reader , i was going insane . check lights every day , regen problems .throwing parts at problems till they were corrected.uuugh !!!!! finding the codes was huge and using cummins troubleshoot tree gave me a fighting chance.
i have been getting this doc face plug code since day one , cleaned filter , new doser , would just pop back up . followed rawse instruction and replaced i-map and delta -p ,ex gas pressure . presto . no codes, truck runs strong and mpg are awesome
also noticed , after replacing the egr on two of them , those two trucks don't have dpf problems.i haven't replaced the sensors on them yet (egr problems happened during my introduction phase and was almost committed to the asylum).
i just wanted to thank everyone on this site , Rawse ,Heavy D ( hi five's ) for helping

Hi guys, Rawze can these things from ebay that u showed us will help me out to force a regen process from my laptop( i dont want to feed any dealers just by plugging a wire in my truck)? I did everything you said last week, installed also a new turbo(compressor wheel started to touch the housing) and new gaskets and bolts for exhaust manifold. Truck has 685k 2008 prostar, dpf has 75k miles on it. Changed the imap and deta p, cleaned all the pipes, changed also egr cooler( coolant was dissappearing about 1 gallon in 8k miles, no leaks at all and no raise in oil level, so it is not getting into oil, but still all my intake pipes were not that bad or sticky) in couple words spent 5k in it last week. Now i cant do a regen. My dpf injector is old, so i am thinking this is my problem now. Drove about 100 miles, and check engine light came on and off 3 times than dissapeard. Took it to mecahnic to see what it has, got 3 errors non active spn 3251, spn 94 and spn 2789. Nothing about dpf injector. Now one of them is for the sensor right next to thermostat housing forgot its name, and i will change it tomorrow. Any other ideas?btw changed also the square filter form the driver side, to nose of the engine, dont know its name.
flex exhaust was messed, the one that goes around the engine in the back. The inside layer of the hose was broken and i guess it was loosing exhaust bcause of that. Now the idle sounds way way better guys. Just need to figure out why does not want to do a regen.
just too many things in may head now, sry for disorganised thoughts.

Maybe a dumb question .watched rawzes videos he didn't mention whether or not the carb cleaner would affect the plastic or the sensor that were left connected ...just wondering
    Thanks

:biggrin_25523:Sorry if this question has been asked or even answered in the post all ready.
After reading some of the first pages of this thread I decided to test drive an ISX. This is an early model. Pre egr.
I'm concerned with the known problem of ISX eating the cams. I read earlier in post that they have it fixed but did they recall the first engines to fix those and how can I tell if its been updated.
    Thanks

The only time an OEM will recall something is if it is a serious safety issue, any cummins shop could tell you if it has the updated parts in it if you give them the engine serial number.

    DSTdriver Thanks this.

So you are saying that they in fact have fixed it on the newer ones and the older ones CAN be made to not eat them up.
    Just want to clarify.
