When I teamed if I got up and my co driver was out of the truck I always always made sure to put stuff in the driver seat! Leave a note . Leave the curtain open. So if we didn't see each other inside he knew I wasn't there!

At Roehl the trainee will do most of the driving.

that really isnt much of an excuse either. i mean sure its a pain in the arse to have to pull over and check it but you can select the little icon and tell it to read it to you...or call in to find out whats going on. not ignore 12 messages when one comes right after the other...in life they call that a clue. but i feel your pain i was almost left at a t/s in amarillo when i walked back outside my truck was just getting onto the road. fortunately the road wasnt far from the entrance so i booked it to the road and waved him down lol.

yea true they do call them mentors at end of day she was a barley trainer in my book. Oh yea lets not forget about the royal blue short sleeve shirt she wore all the time.I still remember that truck number and her driver code. this particular trainer I will never forget. she was based out of Memphis, tn terminal. she was on the sears account. we went to olive branch, ms to pick loads up. we always went to Kansas city, ks and she didn't take i40 she always took the detour. on days she picked loads up I had to spend night out side her house in truck on street. AND SHE DIDNT STAY IN A A-1 NEIGHBOOR HOOD!!!. she stayed in east Memphis if you know any thing about east Memphis am sure u don't but it was not good majority of time. she would take me by store to use bathroom, and take me by a place to get something to eat. I was not allowed inside of her house. she was the dude but her girlfriend was nicer to me than my actual trainer. and I had to make sure I didn't drink too much so I didn't have to go during the night. she would call me to start the pre-trip. because she did 30min pre-trips. she would stop me by the luvs in west Memphis, ar off of i40/55n I took care of my personal needs u no use bathroom, brush teeth, etc. that post was the worst thing happened while I was on the truck I am not gonna include that she just used me for miles. when I asked for help with my backing. she told me to take the backing class there at swift in Memphis. I wasn't the only student there because their trainer wouldn't teach. Its been a minute since I trained there but I believe they make u train for 260 BTW hours. she complained the hole 1st 50hrs because she wasn't able to drive as a team and she wasn't getting a lot of miles like it was my fault. and on my papers she marked it up like she taught me all that stuff and I did all that stuff during training. as for me she didn't deserve to be called a "MENTOR" this is why she is being called a trainer by me.NavigatorWife and otherhalftw Thank this.

Nothing new in that description of the Memphis crew of "mentors"!
I was a trainer/Mentor with Swift...heard all the horror stories about that group! I lasted 12 years with them...but quit "training" as the students kept getting dumber. When you don't know which way is north on any map...you really shouldn't be driving cross country!!NavigatorWife, missjhawk, LaBubba and 1 other person Thank this. -
You do have a good point, when the qualcom beeps 12 times in a short amount of time, its probably not your daily safety message spam. Could actually be important, and worth pulling over at the next safe location to read the message(s)MUSTANGGT and NavigatorWife Thank this.

It's warmer IN the truck and much less windy.MUSTANGGT, otherhalftw, Balakov100 and 1 other person Thank this.

She was neither a trainer nor a mentor.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Students whenever you have to go to the restroom and trainer is inside, wait till trainer gets backs or leave a note on the steering wheel where you went before leaving the trk.Otherwise the same thing could happen to you what happened to misshawk, trainer forgets to check the back and leaves. Its also a good idea to get trainers phone number just in case.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I have gotten into the habit of using the vocal option myself, especially when getting numerous messages at once. One never knows; it could actually be important. I imagine she would have felt even worse had they been attempting to notify her of an emergency at home she wasn't aware of.
Conversely, one wonders why the company just didn't simply call her on the phone for a matter so obviously important.
