Regardless of any "delays" you hadn't taken into consideration, I still see your concerns are misguided.
That said, if you had to choose between 5 weeks of training, making you a more experienced safer driver... versus...
a short training period to get out there solo much quicker, even say,, in 2-3 weeks...
you'd take the shorter route?
Safety and knowledge should be your MAIN goal, not just how fast you can solo or "get out there".
I could have easily taken a short course when I got my Class A, but I chose the longest one offered.
I already had tons of Class C truck driving experience, but chose the longer training.
I'm glad I did, because it made me even more skilled as a Class A driver, by having more knowledge gained from experienced drivers.
Seems we are quite different in what we prioritize. See my point?
trainer question ??????

I can give you the name to two good friends of mine, both have many years under their belts with central, and have been training since 2011. Driven many winters, not summer trainers.
And when I was at central, I ended up going home with my trainer to California for 4 days at his house with him. Actually, he still trains at central too. I spoke with him last month. So I know 3 trainers.tangerineGT Thanks this. -
Guess I really didn't look at it that way , I seen more right off the bat and was like why ?
-
I'm just curious, when your trainer mentioned 35 days then why didn't you politely ask right away if there was a change in plans?
-
This training gig is otr so I know what the trainer knows & that is how the load planners work & that you won't be anywhere near your drop off point when the 28 days ends. I would grin & bear it for as long as possible because every minute training is more experience under YOUR belt so that when you are outta that noob stage & the #### hits the fan you'll be able to deal & overcome accordingly. *Pick the trainers brain the entire time & ask questions. It isnt always chain smoking & spotify on the road so maybe take the extra days as a sign & get it done,KW Cajun and tangerineGT Thank this.

It kinda took me by surprise, so I think sunday when he picks me up . I will ask to clarify the said days just to make sure .
You guys all had some very valid points that I did not take into consideration. And I appreciate it very muchKW Cajun Thanks this. -
Let us know his name to see if it's someone we know. I still keep in contact with a lot of drivers

Maybe he is looking at how long he has had to spend with previous trainees and it ranges from 28-45 days so he gives you an average of 35.
I tried training (#### sure not for me) and it is rediculous that some trainees can't even figure out how to start the truck but they are already talking about going solo.tangerineGT Thanks this. -
Is the training as a team is the trainer asleep while you drive
-
After like 2 weeks it is dispatched as team.krazyhorsechick Thanks this.
