I am looking at Roehl's dedicated van driving program. I live just south of Philadelphia Pa. From what I saw on their website, this is basically a 7 day on 2 or 3 off? Do you keep the truck on your time off or is this a slip seat deal.
I am amazed at the variety of programs they offer. There doesn't look like there is much difference in pay between dedicated and national. I would have expected better money being paid for national fleet. Maybe I'm missing something. I always had the impression OTR paid better. The website is a little deceptive about CPM. They just give ''avg pay per week''.
I'm curious what kind of miles you guys/gals are getting.
I have my CDL, but haven't driven in over 10 years. Still working out the details for schooling, whether it's private or company sponsored. I have passed some emails back and forth with Samantha at Roehl. My only experience was driving day cab pulling TL freight. Some occasional over nights in motels when I ran out to Pittsburgh and down to Virginia.
Thanks for your time. I don't know how you guys find time to answer all these questions. I'm sure everyone appreciates your efforts.
Dedicated fleet info please

Living in Philly, the regional jobs pay better than national, cause most drivers don't want to go to the north east. There are several companies that pay better for that area. Heartland and Bar Nunn are two I can think of, but there's others. If you don't mind running between say Virginia and Maine all the time, you can make a really good living, and still get home every weekend.
i don't know much about Roehl, but I'm sure you take the truck home on weekends, unless there's a terminal near to you. -
Roehl doesn't have a terminal, but they have a secure yard in Bensalem.clayshot Thanks this.

If I got on with Roehl, could I leave a vehicle there? Just trying to figure out how getting home would work.
I'm familiar with where Bensalem is, since my old Co. was out of there.
BTW, I like your avatar...lol.Bayle Thanks this. -
Don't know for certain about Bensalem since that's one of the few yards I haven't been to yet, but every one of the yards I have been to has always had space for drivers to park their personal vehicles while they're out on the road.

when you talk to a recruiter just ask them about it. It's one of those weird lots we use that is operated by someone else and other companies use it. There is even a guard shack there, and showers, and laundry too.clayshot and technoroom Thank this.

A lot of people park their cars in Bensalem. Just like any other yard you park there and go out, return and drive home. The yard itself is pretty big the people there are cool I would assume its be ok. I did 14/7 out of the Jacksonville yard a third the size of Bensalem and parked my car there. As for dedicated pays less I think than national but you make better money bc you get preplanned better and always moving doing mostly drop hook freight or delivering and picking up out of the same place. Most of the dedicated drivers I spoke with that's what I heard. Could be different on certain accounts. And the hometime fleets 7/4 7/3, 14/7 are slip seat with 2 other drivers
And Heartless express you'll never get home on the wkend, every driver I talked to that works for them said its near impossible to get home on time or when your scheduled.clayshot and technoroom Thank this. -
Good info coop. I wasn't sure on Bensalem, just like East St. Louis. I don't think they allow there, with the guard etc. but E St. Louis is more strict. Probably because the pilot is across the street.

East St. Louis right after the gate there's bobtail parking. Don't remember seeing vehicles parked in the same area or not though. Idk if they have hometime fleets out if there but most hometime fleet yards you can park your vehicle there.
