That thing was their attempt to build a mobile command station for their nuclear arsenal during the cold war. They wanted something they could station way out in the middle of nothing in Siberia and control their missiles. They took the frame of one of their mobile ICBM launchers and set a diesel locomotive on it. Interesting idea but they never quite finished it. It's sat there ever since.

Speaking of ideas, they have newer ones too. I kinda want one of these, though I've no idea how to import it or whether I could.

Keep watching, they start running over people with the thing.

really road trucks from Russia are not so efficient we need. They got heavy thick frames, high clearance, heavy and noisy cab. So with weight limit of 80 K Lbs in Russia you cant load over 43 000 Lbs w/o Overload. In Soviet age roads were bad, narrow and poor maintaned. They used railways to haul loads and truck was the tool to move goods from railway station to customers (usually somewhere in the middle of nowhere), that's why military trucks are used by civilians.

Really Russia got good highways ten years ago only and there are some good roads in RF like M4 DON, but not all the roads. Crazy Russians try to push all speed limits hen they are on good road that's why Russian freeways are so dangerouse.

National Ukrainian truck maker - KRAZ made trucks for oil fields of Russia and road versions of their trucktors are like dynosaurs on road, so for road operations we use EU and US trucks

In Middle East MAN millitary trucks are very popular, UAE army has a biggest fllet of MAN trucks of 4X4, 6X6, 8X8. Seeing these trucks in action is unbelieveable. The kind of job they perform. I remeber MAN 6X6 tractor with WSK torque convertor and ZF 16 speed and V10 engine pulling a trailer loaded with two battle tanks in the desert almost half the tyres immersed in sand but truck keeps on moving we used to call it beast.
I myself driven MAN off road trucks in desert they are amazing. Many such vehicles are used by civilans for fun in desert and as recovery vehicles where others fail they reach.
Oman Army uses many Oshkosh(USA) military trucks.

Yes u r right Gorica is a leading trailer manufacturer, also they are leader in Concrete mixers in ME. There is another famous special trailer manufacturer from Germany known as DOLL. There are many aircraft catering highloaders mounted on MAN chassis in Dubai & Abu Dhabi airport by CTV-DOLL made in Thailand. There are lots of MAN 8X8 aircaft fire tender trucks in middle east airports they have V12 engine about 1000HP with Renk automatic transmission

did you saw , libian actros 4860 8x8 with 7axle goldhofer trailers with some huge tires, for desert operation they also load 2tanks

they dont make concrete mixers but they are made in slovenia at company itas which is sister company to gorica

doll is well above in quality technical solutions but also in price , their products are really expensive , for example 5axle semi low loader (drop deck) with mcpherson suspension , cost 228 000$ without tax ( here 25%) , 2axle low loader with same axles 172 000$,

one company 5km from me have their 7axle trailer, in germany law allows 12ton per axle technically it is 16t, since germany is most often destination or it passing germany they usually load it to comply german laws,i guess it cost about 350 000$
