I was over to a friends today and he was telling me he wants try driving again. He started almost ten years ago the last time. He said he drove for about 1 and a half months and basically quit and got off the truck while he was still with a trainer. Would this affect his ability to get trained from scratch so to speak with a company today?

Gave him get a free copy of his DAC report here http://www.hireright.com/Consumers-Applicants.aspx
Being ten years old there ia nothing that sounds like it would help him. So if it is not on the DAC I probably wouldn't be volunteering that information, but that is his decision. Most employtment histories only want the last ten years anyway.caftransport Thanks this. -
He did get a copy of his DAC and it's on there listed as a student. He's worried about it being a negative thing I believe.
-
I thought after 7 yrs Hireright has to remove it.

10 yrs ago with 6 weeks experience.....not to worry, he's basically starting fresh.
caftransport and Truckergirl0720 Thank this. -
He would be starting from scratch
-
Let me guess, he also let his CDL lapse? In order to retain the CDL he would have had to maintain his medical card.
Ergo, he's starting from scratch.
It might be worthwhile to correct his DAC report to remove the history, as it is so old it is ripe and rotting... but he can also explain to any potential employer he was young, misinformed, and not ready to live life on the road... or something like that.
Methinks he'll have to start all over again to regain his CDL, take the tests, go to school, all that stuff. -
He also mentioned and I forgot to add that he never paid back the truck driving school. Would this be a problem getting another school or trucking company to sponsor him?
-
He would probably need to check his credit report to see if the school reported it to the credit bureaus or not. Most negative items stay on report 7-10 years

So, your friend is one of those people who burned a bottom feeder and made it more difficult for the guys and girls that came after him.
FLATBED Thanks this.
