Mark, I'll go get it and do it right now. I'll let you know asap.

Mark, it's done. D & R came back "No issues found". Now running software version 3.55.2780.1540 Dock version 1.0.5046.30570. I'll let you know if it happens again. Btw, I'm sure this applies all over but here in CA, there is a TON of construction going on. New bridges on 41/46 (new lanes too) The 99 is being realigned between Chowchilla and Merced.

If you know of construction let me know where and we can verify it and get it in the construction database.

Try deleting the Navi/User/Trip.db and see if that helps the issue.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I stop at this Pilot all the time and my 510 does the same thing. My 760 gets it right. I run my Rand and Garmin together to see what does what. I just don't understand why in some cases the two are so different. The way I feel is that if Google ever came out with a GPS that is the one I would buy.

Mark, you have the 99 (location above) being moved over (realigned) about 100' which makes R.M. think you're driving in the dirt. On the 41/46 where they run together, about 20-30 miles east of Paso Robles they built two new bridges and realigned the road. As of today, they are not done but they're close. Right now, they're using what WILL BE the east bound lanes for both directions. But the R.M. thinks you're driving in the dirt here.

    Hey Mark,

Been awhile since I have issued anything on this forum, but you helped me out immensely last time. But now I need help again...

My 720 has developed an issue in which if there is a lot of info on the map (i.e. Weather info or a major metropolitan city map) on screen, the device either updates distance or directions every 3 to 5 minutes instead of continually (and the voice stutters like Max Headroom on crack) or locks up entirely. I do not know if there may be issues with any of the files in the unit (like raster.bin) or if the unit hardware is heading south. Last time you had me delete the cache folder on my comp for the rm download and then redownload. I just did that again and completed the device connection and also ran r&d on it and it stated no issues. But this is still occurring. Is there a way that I can put the unit back to a factory default setting, or any files to remove from the unit to put it in a "clean slate" condition, as it were? Then transfer files to the unit via the dock after that is done?

    let me know

    thanks!

Not understanding what you mean by a lot of information...

Weather does not show up till you are HotSpotted and then click on a weather condition to show on screen.

Not sure what you mean by the metropolitan city map, unless you are zoomed out.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I can't get TND dock to work on either one of my computers so I can update my TND 500. I tried to reinstall it from the device & Rand Mcnally's website & I keep getting the message that windows has encountered a problem and is looking for a solution then windows shuts it down. Both of my computers are running windows 7.

    Disable any Anti-Virus programs.

You also might have a hung MSI installer. Let me know if you are computer savvy, if not I can remote into your laptop and try to resolve the issue. I use Teamviewer.

I will be available Sun afternoon. I am on EST in NC. Just send me a PM.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I have a mobile hotspot and do connect the 720 to it to get the weather info.

What at I mean by a lot of information is when the map is showing a lot of information. I have the unit set to auto zoom during routing and when I connect the unit to my hotspot and set to show weather information and there is a lot of information from the weather portion on the screen (like say wind speed) it will then start to exhibit its strange behavior. It wll also do the same thing when coming into a major city and the screen gets "busy" with all of the roads, crossroads and exits etc. ( either hot spotted or not). In other words if a lot of information is present on the screen it will either become a slide show and update distance and speed once every 3 to 5 minutes or lock up entirely. I understand that refreshing a lot of information on the screen can slow down the unit but not to this extent. It did not do this earlier until last map update.

    Hope this clarifies
