I bet they will be the loudest screamers if your 5 minutes late.. If you log all of your waiting time for that load.. And happened to run out of hours to be able to deliver that load when they wanted it. You want to be legal on that log book. Then ask them if they loaded it when you got there.. Then you would have been on time. And not a day late. This game works both ways.

If a broker doesn't send you a rate confirmation you don't really have a load....ever. If you ask for a rate confirmation and don't get it within an hour you should find something else for your truck to do.
I agree that brokers that do this are scum but with all due respect this one is as much on you. -
Psh.. Unless I'm dealing with a broker that I trust, I keep looking for a better load until the rate confirmation hits my inbox AND I get an official dispatch. Until you're officially dispatched, you can't even get a TONU if the load cancels.G3Truks Thanks this.

agree 100%! Thanks!

Does anyone use a standardized contract outlining company policies on detention and tonu/ cancellations? Would such a thing matter, or does the broker just tell you what he is giving you? Are these things normally outlined in writing beforehand by either party?

Tare weights are lighter gives you the oppertunity to carry more vasaline for times like this.

Did you have a rate confirmation? Without that, 15-mins for a new broker is the max a truck should ever wait before taking another load (keep looking).wcurtin1962 and donkeyshow72 Thank this.

Definently sounds like TQL

TQL did this to me. I booked a load and got the load confirmation but not the pickup info. They said the pickup info would be sent the next day before I left. I didn't leave in the morning because I had a feeling they would let the load stay on the board to try and get someone else to take it a little cheaper. Sure enough, they called early and cancelled it. The did the same thing to me the next day on another load. So my truck was tied up for two days for nothing.
I now refuse to wait on the pickup info from brokers. If they confirm the load thru email, then I want the pickup info at the same time. That is my new policy. They will let you drive your equipment to the city to pickup without an address and pay you nothing.
So when they say; " go ahead and get started and we will get you the pickup info" you know what is going to happen.camaro68 and wcurtin1962 Thank this. -
We had a similar situation with TQL, only we deadheaded about 150 miles to get this load only to find out it was put on another truck. TQL refused to make things right and the TQL employee's were very very unprofessional. Suprised they can stay in buisness with the way they treat people.
