Well I got hired. They asked me if I wanted to stay at the hotel till Monday or go home, so I had my girlfriend come pick me up since she is only an hour away from the terminal. My expierence there is good so far. ill be doing North East regional. The recruiter told me weekly home time and my orientation instructor said weekly home time ( he was a deacon for a church) so I doubt that he would tell lies. Every one is up front and pretty honest. I am nervous about the snow up north bout im looking foreward to it.

    Translation:

Drove NE (live in Vermont) for six weeks then quit. Was good at first then went downhill, hard to get home. USX has lots of equipment (ample tractor supply--plenty in Tennessee), wanted me to make Sunday deliveries. Dispatcher was out of Tennessee, too. PM me direct for next translation.

    Good luck, stay safe.

Hey Jakebrake, Can you tell me more specifics about the 3 that were sent home ? What made them fail the physical and what type of medical conditions did they have that made them get sent home ?

Medical conditions - High blood pressure or undiagnosed diabetic will be the most common reason. They will let you come back with either if you get it controlled under a doctors care. You also cannot be color blind or have severe hearing loss.

For the physical test, the two things that wash the most out are the duck walk (simulates getting under a trailer) where you crouch down and walk a few steps without touching the ground. And the heart rate test, they have you pick up a crate with 70 pounds of weights, walk dawn the hall and they check your heart rate, then you repeat it two more times. If heart rate goes to high, you fail.

Wow sound like you need to be in pretty good shape, I think I will carry 70 lbs for a while and keep checking my heart rate. That would really be bad to get sent home. Feel sorry for the people who are all excited to get a job and then get sent home.

Trucking has a lot of regulation even though the government considers it unskilled labor

Honestly that is pretty common. I got out right away but for my wife it took three weeks to get a trainer. That is the longest I have heard of however.
