$400 is a lot of $$ so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger, and reviews are VERY mixed on the RM products, including the 720, so experience does anyone have with the new Cobra 8000?
Pros?
Cons?
(please only FIRSThand info lol)
Cobra 8000? Who's running one?

I picked one up in Kingman, Az. at the Petro. Used it on a run down to Casa Grande, Az.. Maximum volume was so low that I could barely hear it. I even turned of the CB as well as my radio, no difference. Exchanged it for another one thinking that it was defective. Apparently not. Second one was just as bad. Exchanged it for the 7750 Platinum plus refund for the difference in price.

Well, I've had every Major truck gps out there and the Cobra 8000 is one that I, only kept for 2 hours. Graphics that look like a 4 year old did them. No spoken street names, ect...

Don't see many comments on the pc- miler product but that's what I've had for about a year. No issues at all. PC550. Should have got the bigger one other than that it's great. Had the rand McNally for a week prior to the pc- miler. Pc- miler recalculates fast if you miss a turn. Rand takes forever. Rand was too feature rich for me. And it froze constantly.
I can appreciate having someone on this forum to help with the rand issues, but I did want to have issues. Which is what the pc- miler provides. No issues. -
I replaced my PC Miler 740 with the Cobra 7750 Platinum. Got tired of it freezing up about every 4 days. Had it ever since the 740 came out. Also, the updates that you get when you order them are already a year old. Ordered 2012 update last December and received 2010. Called PC Miler and they said that the update was not yet available. That is pretty sad if you ask me. Every one else is available around the first of the year.

So, thoughts on the 7750 then? Seems to be better than the 8000?

i've been happy with my pcmiler for 15 months now.
started with rand and that lasted 2 weeks.
i'm not worried about updates. cuz really. how many brand new streets do you think your going to run into. i can wait a couple of years or so.
so far i've only had one. and NONE of my programs could find IT OR THE BUSINESS. but it was just built -
I bought the Cobra 8000 pro hd and I'm now returning it! It is simply the worst pile of crap available! DO NOT BUY THIS!!! gps mapping is wrong, does not send you on truck routes, times are wrong, mileage is wrong. I called the cobra customer service and spoke with "Willie", he told me there is a SUCKER born everyday and your the SUCKER- then he hangs up the phone on me. Great customer service! I will never buy cobra products again!!!

I've been hanging with the 8000 pro for about a year and a half. Many lessons learned. This unit at best is about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. It seems it locks up if you change anything during movement, its never done it when I made changes when stopped. It is true, about the tech services, one of those guys is nothing but a moron. You can not update this unit with anything other than the latest Windows operating system. If these people did any research, they would have understood that most of us out here don't have the latest and greatest electronics. At present, I shut the sound off, there are some good features, mile marker, rest area and most of the info on the tabs. I've given up on the mapping, mileage, time. I'm trying to decide what to do with this piece of expensive junk. I don't want to sell it to someone, then they will be mad at me, and the company is not going to make good what they say this unit will do.
