Many years ago I drove for my fathers home building company using his 3/4 ton, standard tran. pickup and 20 ft. trailer to haul the backhoe/loader, rocks, wood; mostly overweight, up and down and around. Underpowered, no brakes and not enough gears but I liked it anyway. Recently I drove a Penske 26000 box truck from north Idaho to southern California (1100 miles) and had a great time. Even going down the north California mountains on I-5, in heavy traffic was a good adventure. I'm also at a point where I can get into trucking, at least local; OTR maybe later. I've been reading this site and it's a great resource.

You can do Northwest Regional with some companies such as trans-system.

Thanks guys, I'll have to check out Trans-System. Watkins & Shepard seems to be big in this area and I think they have a depot in Spokane. I've been told Prime lets a local guy take his truck home when he's off. There's also a lot of Knight trucks. For now I may try to get a job driving a wood chip truck. I need to be home most nights for now.
